I tried to start my 2009 Tacoma yesterday and it didn't sound like it was going to fire at all. Sprayed some starting fluid in the intake and it fired up for a few seconds, Got spark and air, disconnected fuel and cranked, no fuel coming out. Thought I had a bad fuel pump for sure.
With the key turned on but not to start I could not hear the fuel pump humming. At main EFI relay had coil power and relay pulled in just fine. At the R6 Circuit Opening Relay I had power to coil side of relay (from the EFI relay working) but the other side of the coil tab I had no continuity to ground which prevent this relay from pulling in and turning on the fuel pump. I was able to jumper from the battery to the other side of the relay and the pump came on. My problems is shown below at 14 A3 connector to E30 MREL. Does anybody know where this connector is. I think I have an open to the GND on this leg somewhere.

MREL switches to ground only under certain conditions to energize the relay, otherwise you would not expect continuity. Are you sure you had the right operating conditions to warrant energizing the circuit opening relay?

Edit, it switches positive not ground.

Do you have a flashing security light in the center of the dash next to the clock with the key on?

MREL doesn't go to the C/OPN relay, it provides positive voltage the the coil of the EFI relay which in turn provides +12V to the ECM. I think you may have a wrong year drawing.

MREL switches +12V that goes to the EFI relay coil, FC switches ground to the C/OPN relay
