i took off my wheel well liners in the front of my truck when I installed my aftermarket front bumper. This kind of leaves my air intake open for large debris to get into. I am considering putting mesh over the the intake to stop this. Has anyone done this? Also if you did what did you use to keep the mesh in place?

Or mice and other miniature fauna... I covered mine with 1/2" square wire mesh after finding acorns in the air filter housing. I had to do the same with the cabin air intake after a red squirrel made a nest and had babies on top of my cabin air filter.

Remove intake tube that ties in to the intake manifold, put a sock over it. I ran mine like this for 2 years, I just changed my air filter every 10k miles or so but it was always dry as a bone.

For the cowl intake to the cab............

Use fiberglass screen on the backside of the cowl trim, hot glue it in place as you keep it taught and well fitted. Trim excess with a razor when all done.

It will stop the sticks/leaves/nuts from entering the AC intake.

A sock??? Not the most hi-tech solution - but if it works - why the hell not!

I believe the problem Larzzz is having is due to the mesh size he is using - as you can see here - www.bwire.com - when it comes to woven wire mesh, 1/2" opening is quite large on the grand scale of things. Perhaps a tighter mesh - perhaps a 10x10 or 20x20 would make for a better choice.

Is the fear there that this would restrict air flow?

How about water? Your tires will throw a fair bit of water straight into the intake on a rainy day - and if you wheel in the mud...
