After 5 years, my 2019 Toy battery finally needs replacing. After allot of research looking for the best value with more capacity, I cant seem to find a better $$ to Reserve Capacity than this Costco Interstate 27F battery: Costco Interstate Battery

What am I missing here ?

....$110 for a flooded battery with 165 RC... Seems to good to be true. In my research, I'd have to pay almost 3 times that to get marginally better RC / AH....

    Thoughts ? Suggestions ?

I've had the Costco / Interstate 24F for about 3yrs now. Still starting way faster than the stock battery ever did. I run a fridge off of it from time to time.

    Paid about $120 for it?

It's all I've used for the last several vehicles I've put batteries in, even when helping out other folks.

The only thing you're 'missing' is overspending.

LOL - that seems to be the case !

I called the Interstate Battery store near my city and the salesman claims Costco Interstate Batteries are not the same quality as their batteries directly from Interstate...Cant find anything online to corroborate this though. This battery (27f) directly from Interstate is 2x the Costco cost.

Got one for my old CR-V, they’re a great deal. I believe they come with a 3-year warranty as well. I’ll be getting another for my Taco when the time comes, which is hopefully not an inconvenient one.

Probably just sales bs as he wants you to buy from him. Most batteries are made by a handful of mfrs. Check specs such as cold cranking amps (cca) and reserve capacity to compare. Hard to beat Costco for quality, warranty and price.

Sorry... stock 24F replacement for the Taco. I have 2x 27f deep cycles in my trailer and those have been excellent. You will not be running deep cycles though.

It's not BS. It is part of Costco's negotiation practice with their vendors. They ask for absolutely the lowest price they can get. Part of what goes into cost of goods sold adder is warranty claims. If the vendor is willing to accept the product and will not ask for any warranty claims, they can offer at a lower price. They do the same thing with their private label tires. You might get a Michelin, but it is exclusive to Costco and only they can warranty it.

As for the battery, it is an interstate made by Johnson Controls. They make top quality batteries. They are also sold as Die Hard Gold, Walmart, and a few other names.

You may want to reconsider as the battery tray (little plastic jobbie) that has dimples that fits into the stock mounting location is sized for 24f. No biggie if you want to fab something up but you may want to consider the weight difference. I don't know if it is enough to cause the stress cracks that the dual battery in the stock location causes but that battery spot is known to have issues if you put more weight on it than intended. Something to understand before you take the plunge. Also: bigger battery does not always equal more cranking amps. I lived out of my trailer for most of the year and did fine with the stock 24f and two 27f house batteries with solar and a gas generator keeping the trailer topped. I'm not sure the gains of the 27f will be worth the potential issues or work you will have to do to accommodate the new setup.

Just my $.02. Go with it if you want to upgrade -- I'm all about seeing some cool, custom stuff. I just bring the above up so you can account for the cost.

The only thing you're missing is Costco's charges in warranty. They were 42m free replacement then 36m free replacement and now 36m limited warranty.

I don't have any issues with a 5 year old true start in my tacoma but I have a regular 90 mile a day commute in Socal.

My wife dosen't work and the costco H6 in her Volvo just barely made it past 36 months. I got a Walmart H6 agm for hers. Walmart has the same batteries at the same prices. 3 year free for standard and 4 year free for agm. I didn't realize she still had a 42m costco battery in there so I have a new replacement which I'll probably put in the my truck.

My costco also doesn't have the separate tire store so it sucks to have to fight the crowds and go in for a battery so I'll be switching to Walmart for all my cars now.

You can get a 2nd Gen with tow package battery tray to get a 27F to fit correctly
