Stations are randomly tested often for this. You really think some retailers can just falsely advertise on the pump and it’s all just accepted by those that don’t?

Where in that post is there any claim of false advertising or any type of cheating? Now you are just making yourself look bad.

Well, I don’t use Costco gas in my Taco. It doesn’t seem to have performance issues, but I do see mileage drops of 1.5-2.0 mpg. It’s a bit out of the way to get for me, so the mileage thing is enough to keep me from using it in the truck. Seems to run fine in the cars though.

My Taco seems to prefer either Shell or BP for the best mileage. As long as either of those are within a cent or two of the other stuff, that’s what it gets in the tank. Not premium, just regular old 87 octane.

My comment was in response to your first post weighing holy judgement on numerous posts in this thread, even declaring a winner lol :D
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...our-gas-at-costco.696070/page-7#post-24633246

True you didn't disagree with any of my posts and my comment was in regards to all of your comments in the thread in totality. But just for fun, let's review how you responded to some of my posts that you "agreed with":

"....You're educating yourself with good information. Hopefully you understand it."
    lol!

"...and do you know why this is?"
    :D
"...in conjunction with the API, which stands for the American Petroleum Institute, and ASTM."
And ASTM means? jk, I know. :) Actually the sources I read regarding the history of Top Tier state

"In 2004 representatives of BMW, General Motors, Honda, and Toyota got together to specify what makes a good fuel. Using recommendations from the Worldwide Fuel Charter, a global committee of automakers and engine manufacturers, they established a proprietary standard for a class of gasoline called "TOP TIER" Detergent Gasoline."
While I would suspect that the organization likely consulted with API, I find nothing to indicate API was part of the actual formation of the Top Tier organization. You can always provide a link. :)

As an engineer, I do my best to try to "understand" things, and no lectures or demeaning responses needed for me to do so haha. I promise to try harder though ;)

And I'm still waiting on that link to your declared winner of the thread as requested:
"link to a reliable source or two proving Costco bought gas from Isis intentionally... or otherwise.

The gas quality is about the same as others. What seems to be most important is that the station is in constant use. This means the gas isn’t sitting there for long periods of time. I have no idea how it affects gas if it sits there 1 week vs 6 months, but atleast there wont be as much sludge build up on the pump.

Idk if its just me, but to me it seems that my truck runs best on either Shell 93 or Exxon 93. Yes, its OVTuned, thats why I use 93.

Stupid Oregon. I buy my fuel ether at the Texaco or Chevron in Newberg or the Chevron in Wilsonville. I know those guys well enough now I just pull up and start pumping my own gas. They nod, I nod and away I go. With Covid going around most places don't even question it anyway. Oh you want to pump your owns gas sir? OK no problem. And when the cops come they are free to arrest me. Get with it Oregon and let the masses pump their own fuel for gods sake.

What is this "93" that you speak of?

Here in CA mommy says we can only have 91 octane and even that is baaaaaad for us.

I guess it really doesn't matter anyway, it would cost too much anyway. My Mustang was tuned to 91 until said 91 passed the $5/gallon mark. After a hasty de-tune, no more premium gas for me. Good thing I passed on the SC, that would have really hurt.

I’m not “tuned”, and I get why it needs to be...BUT...have you tried 87 lately? I ask, because when my truck was new (<10k miles) I ran Shell 93 exclusively for ~6500mi. Mileage improved a lot, and started getting mileage just slightly better than sticker, on average (like a 1/4 mpg...negligible at best). Before that, I was easily 4 or 5 mpg under sticker, so I was chalking it up to “better gas”. Just for grins and giggles, I ran a couple of tanks of Shell 87, and low and behold...zero change. Thought it through a bit, and I think it was my truck breaking in properly, and nothing to do with octane. Still to this day get less mileage by changing brands, but octane doesn’t seem to matter for mine.

I’m in central Washington and non ethanol is around 45 cents more per gallon than regular chevron, shell etc. and Costco/Fred Meyer seems like it’s always 10-15 cents cheaper than normal gas. There’s a billion people driving around using the cheapest gas they can get and it doesn’t cause any issues. My perspective is buy what makes you happy whether it’s Fred Meyer gas that’s $2.25 a gallon or non ethanol that’s $3.25 a gallon. Like most have said for a daily driven car I don’t think it matters one bit. For small engines and such then it’s worth while to spend the money on non ethanol.

I live in Alberta Canada and by comparison we do pay more for gas than some places in the US. I generally buy my gas that's unfortunately saudi (Canada is a major oil supplier but to my knowledge Canadian gasoline is all ethanol infused) sourced by Shell, the V Power (premium) is $1.12 CND/1L.
The price is the same (other than Costco) ethanol free or not. I also like the fact that premium fuels also have extra detergents.

If they were side by side and the same price, I might skip the ethanol as well. It's not really an option here. But, I haven't had any issues. I don't think it's worth worrying about.
