So a while back I attempted to use the Costco auto program to get a discount on a new Tacoma thru their choice of Stealership..The Stealership added $1470 worth of forced add ons but said they will only charge me $1270 and then charged full MSRP that they claimed was a $500 Costco auto program discount and of course they charge $1000 for the Doc fees and it is a 3hr drive for the privilege of such vs my local Toyota dealership that only charges full MSRP plus Doc fee of $799 and you can buy it without the forced $1470 / $1270 add on package which is only floor mats and paint protection etc, turned out to be $1470 cheaper not using the Costco Auto program..Which is a shame as sometimes people get thousands off a vehicle..just luck of draw I suppose..and results may vary with each Stealership..Just make sure you double check the Out the door prices..

The auto program seems to be better to get a starting point to negotiate from. Which defeats the point of it, but at least you know where to start.
Don’t forget to use the discount on parts and service though.

Negotiate? In my area the best offer is full MSRP as most charge " market adjustment fees" a few years ago I'd spend 10 to 12 hrs at the Stealership and get 15% to 30% below MSRP literally..I've done it several times for friends and family members at several different Stealerships..but times have changed..The dealership here won't except a single penny under full MSRP as everything is a " special order" etc..and they claim that not paying over MSRP is the discount..
