Have a set of Procomp 7032's coming in the mail and want to use my current coopers on them. Called around to a few shops and almost all of them wanted $30 a wheel to swap them over, tpms, balanced etc.

Is this what it's going for nowadays? I'm in south east PA and to me it just seems a bit steep.
I will say all the shops I talked too were chains, haven't talked to smaller shops yet.

Sounds about right to me, usually it is $15-20 a tire to mount and balance for new tires, if you are having them removed and put on different wheels that makes a little more work.

I think I paid 20 - 25 per tire at Discount Tire. Plus $6 per tire for a TPMS kit. So yeah that sounds about right

Thanks. Just had a weird feeling that was overpriced. I don't mind paying but I mind paying more than I have too. Thanks again guys.

Just a question in general....will a tire/wheel place let you bring in your own wheels and have them mounted to their tires? i.e. if I bought tires from Discount Tire, but wanted to bring in my own wheels that were ordered elsewhere, would they have a problem with that?

I realize I'd have to take my stock wheels home with me after the swap obviously

I've never done it before, this is the first time but not a single person brought it up as an issue. Your still paying them as a service. I got my wheels online and I'm going to take them in and have them swap them out

Shouldn't be a problem. I bought my rims at one place, tires from another and then brought everything to a shop to have installed. No issues.

If you have Discount take care of it, you'll also get lifetime balance/rotation included.

Truth! This is one of the reasons I went with them. I brought my own wheels and had them swap my stock tires from one set to the other.

    Stock
Mom and pop tire shops usually do this cheaper than chains. Some chain stores won't swap anything except winter/summer tires if you purchased them there.

My local shop will charge 10 bucks a tire to mount/balance. 6 dollars extra to move TPMS.

Make sure you have the proper lug nuts for your new rims or you will be swapping right back in some cases.

Ya I'm going to end up taking it to a family friends shop. I'll be the only one there so we can take our time and do it right. I have cooper rtx's (actually really like this tire) in 265/75/16 and am putting on 7032's in 16x8 so I wanted to take the time to make sure they clear and deal with mud flap issues on the spot. Already have the shanked lugs ordered as well.
