IMHO, it might be a wasteful endeavor. Your dollars might be better off spent on other useful gear.

Depending on the material you're painting, it may not adhere properly (I'm thinking it's either fiberglass or some sort of polycarbonate?). Also, depends on what color you want to paint it. Metallics are impossible to match and it'll always stick out. And, if it's a black or dark color truck, do you really want to heat that camper up during summertime? I'd imagine it would get crazy hot inside...

The one I got used is dark green. My color is Mecca gray. So I think I’ll be shopping around for prices…. Thanks all for input. Brand new build quoted $3,500!!! Crazy prices! Got mine for $500!

Depending on the level of job you want, prolly $2500 at a shop.

If you are not to that level of DIY, ask around and find someone who is. A weekend job. About $300-500 in material. Bet you could have done for less than $1k this way.

also price out buying the aerosol cans of pre-matched paint, with a primer and clearcoat to do yourself. it'll be the cheapest option, but will be a '50ft looker'

all it really takes is a good/warm weekend, clean/prep on thursday night, primer friday night, saturday to paint, then sunday morning clearcoat, leaving sunday night to un-mask.

won't be perfect, but will look good enough.

Alternatively, mask it and hit it with a few cans of black herculiner.

Black/gray looks good, has better resale, doesn't look like a retired electrician's fishing truck. The herculiner is more forgiving of amateur mistakes than matched paint.

Spend that few extra hundred on a vacation. ;)

You also have the option to wrap it. I think carbon wrap would look awesome.

Take it to Maaco and have them do it. I had my truck and shell painted there 4.5 years and they both still look like new. I know people will bad mouth Maaco but my truck and shell is proof that they did a great job. It’s just a shell, it’s pretty hard to fuck up painting a shell. It’ll look great and the price will be better than what you’ll find elsewhere. At least get an estimate and talk to them . My truck about 4 years after paint. IMG_1377.jpg

You can also check out a vocational high school near you if you have one. They are always looking for projects and do good work cheap.

For 650$ that's a deal. I was going to say if you have a compressor (even a small one) buy a gun for $200 and paint $100 and clear $50 and supplies $100 and go at it. But $650 is way better. Post final results pic.

    Bingo!

I had a 1st Gen Ford Ranger that was Birth Control Tan with a white aluminum Leer Topper on it. It was pretty awful looking.
So I got some "Leather Brown" and did the rocker panels and then took the shell off and cleaned it up and painted it the same color.
I left most of the top white for heat reasons.

I think the whole project cost me like $50. Of course this was decades ago so maybe $150 to $200 now a days? And rattle can paint has gotten so much better. We also have options that more closely match the stock colors of our vehicles now.
