I posted a brake line question a few days back regarding what length I needed for a 6" lift (stainless braided lines)....

I called a local shop that appears legit (A+ rating from BBB) and they quoted me $60 for the install and bleeding of the new lines.

I called Toyota just for shits and they quoted me $450 because they said it needed a "full flush"..............

Is toyota trying to rip me off or is the local shop just gonna fuck up the install (hence why it is so cheap)?

Ask if the independent shop would quote you a full flush so you get a fair estimate? I think you'd be fine with the partial, but a full flush shouldn't be no $450 either

    Thx for the reply Rock.

The shop that quoted me $60 said they would bleed the lines.

I'm assuming there's no more rocket science involved other than the actual removal and installation of the new lines + the bleeding?...

Still, I would rather pay $60 than attempt it myself (see my differential breather mod issue lol)

    Just called the shop.
60$ for bleeding and $50 for a full flush.

That's cheap. A very good deal if it's a reputable shop like you said.

    Where are you in Texas?

There's a thread on here somewhere in the Texas section about experiences with shops in the DFW area. Might find some useful info there if you are in the area, or post your experience after you get it done.

Check the dealer's price for just a brake flush, then add about 2 hours labor.

If you have a '09+ TRD Off Road, flushing may require a trip to the dealer to open certain valves in the brake manifold using TechStream

Installing rear lines require dropping the spare, so be sure your jack toolkit (3 rods and crank handle) is in the truck.

The Toyota's maintenance booklet specifies a brake flush every 4 years. Do one now and you will be set until 2018...

I've got a 13 TRD sport 4x4. Is that different than TRD off road?

I've got direct access to state inspections regarding the facilities and legitimacy of the inspection stickers issued by this auto shop so I'm fairly confident in their ability(or at least their honesty.) :)

TRD Sport has the "normal" vacuum-boosted brake system, so it can be flushed by most independent shops like most vehicles on the road today.

    Some stuff...
I'd do it yourself, it's fairly easy even with just one person. I replaced my lines by myself when I put my lift on and didn't completely bleed the lines. (I have a 2013 also.)
