I know this question is kinda subjective, but how much would one be looking to pay for a bumper to bumper spray paint job (OEM quality) on a Tacoma for example?

Too much. Consider a vinyl wrap or a trade

10k plus. Color change adds much more.

For OEM quality with a good wet sand, cut, and buff after spraying you’re looking at around 8-10k for a respray including disassembly, reassembly, door jams, and etc.
Color change will be even more expensive.

I just looked at a bumper to bumper wrap and it was starting at $4000 for a basic color. This was one of the best wrap places where I live.

I had the side of my truck repainted after an accident and my memory is that it was $3000 (about half the cost of the entire job). Most of that was painting new parts (fender, 2 doors, and a bed side). Repainting used parts I assume would cost even more due to the cost of removing the old paint.

I was quoted a ball park figure of $3500-$4000 from a local reputable shop. But I have a brother in law that would charge $10K, maybe more. He specializes in custom cars and high end stuff. He does good work, but is proud of it.

That was part of the other half. I was just quoting my memory of the painting line item on the invoice.

Yeah I'd rather get a good wrap for $4000 than a someone quote me around $4000 for a full paint job. The wrap will be hands down better quality.

If you want a good paint job your looking looking at the very least 10k, if you want a color change add more for door jambs, and insides of the doors. Any damage the truck has will add to the price as they need to repair that before they can paint.
Be careful of custom colors as if you need to get something repaired or repainted, its going to be hard to match a non-standard color.

When cheaping out on a paintjob, you sacrifice prep time. They will just tape off parts and spray around them, they also will not scuff the surface very well and the new paint may not stick very well. Prep is king when it comes to getting a good paint job.

I have done full paint jobs a few times, the most recent was in a 1991 BMW convertible, a very small car and I paid $9,800 just to get the same color the car already was, this was almost 10 years ago.

Now a option if you have time to waste is to bring it to the local tech school. Generally they have a autobody program and they usually have a "real customer" section in the program. The students need to produce estimates, repair, and paint a persons car. The person gets a highly discounted rate on the job, but it might not be 100% perfect, and will usually take 2 weeks to complete.

Since you noted it had to be a fancy 'spray paint job' I'd have no idea.
Now if you wanted a roller job then I could do it for about $100.
Did that for my old Farmall H and it looked damn good from about 30ft away.
    Just sayin'.

I agree with the $7500 to $10k for a quality paint job with warranty. Painting isn’t hard I have done a few color changes when I used to paint. The time consuming and pain is all the disassembly and prep work. Plus paints gone up the last few years and worse if your in a water based area

If your current paint's fine but you want a color change, vinyl wrap is the way to go
