EDIT: I browsed around and found a few posts of people with good reports of Corrosion X. Didn't see any negatives.

Just got done spraying the 3 cans I bought over about 85% of the frame inside and out, also with help of a straight extension nozzle. It's supposed to dry to a semi-fluid film. Comes out of the can as an amber-brown color. This HD stuff went on pretty foamy/heavy which I just read is to be expected, apparently the regular Corrosion X is a little thinner.

Reason I bought it was because the local Academy Sports carried it for marine use, but the manufacturer lists many other usages and apparently people love this stuff for circuit boards I guess, and the company also makes similar formulations for aircraft.

Anyway, I took some crap pictures with my phone. Only beef I have with the product is I bought 3 cans. Out of the 3 only one of them had a nozzle that worked, and the one that did work looked like it came from a separate batch as the can and nozzle were different from the other 2. Stuff had been on the shelf for a while by the amount of dust the cans had collected lol.

I'm sure some will wonder why I even did this being down in Georgia but it's mainly for peace of mind and some added protection for the frame. I plan to keep the truck for the long haul bar any unforeseen problems.

Just an update for posterity, the coating I put on became less bubbly over the month or so after initial application. I've since rinsed it a couple times over the past couple months and at this point it has become a nice uniform semi-fluid protection layer. I ran my finger through the coat on one side after my initial application and the finger streaks are still prominently there so it seems I can confidently presume nothing has significantly been worn away since then!

    Holding up nicely!
Almost looks like not much is there but you can see residual ripples/bubbles where I put it on thick.

My only con is it picks up a lot of small gravel/sand/leaves. I presume fluid film behaves the same though.

    definitely some tough stuff :curls:

if you want durability from wash off corrosionX HD appears to be hardcore and puts FF to pity shame

i had some sprayed over the winter on a small frame section and trying to remove it the other day is a hassle with an abrasive blast gun @ 100psi forcing it off with glass bead media, it just creeps and slithers off in slowmo

so a drawback could be if you want it off (for whatever reason) its going to take much effort! maybe high pressure water jet or other chemical is the only way to remove :notsure:
