    Hello, a little help appreciated.

I purchased these pack of 6 crush washers from Amazon thinking at the time they were all that was needed for the front and rear differential as well as the t-case. I believe I got the link from TW but can't find the thread.

It looks like the large copper washer is for the front diff drain plug...? A check of the online reviews only references 2nd Gen Taco and 3rd Gen 4R.

Before I start wrenching, can anyone verify these are the correct crush washers and they are what is needed for this service on 3rd Gen Taco. Thank you.

Large copper washer and steel washer for front diff.

2x aluminum washers for transfer case.

2x steel washers for rear diff.

i changed the fluid in the front and rear diffs and here is what i found using the photo in my original post above.

the large copper washer is for the drain plug of the front diff. the three aluminum crush washers are for the front diff fill plug, and the rear diff drain and fill plugs. that was what was there when i took them off and that is how i replaced them.

by the looks of it, the manually tranny and t-case take a steel washer for both the drain and fill plug. i did not change those today so this is not verified.

some members posted here about the difficulty they had removing the 10mm allen head plugs in the front diff. i gently tapped mine with a hammer before wrenching and they came out easy, fortunately. i was worried i'd have to hammer them off. they actually felt somewhat loose, and I doubt the fill plug was torqued to the spec of 48 ft. lbs. i replaced them with the plugs that take a 14mm socket only because it'll be easier in the future.

my truck is coming up on 15K miles. i have done some towing and felt i fell into the recommended 15K service interval for the diffs. the fluid in the rear diff was medium dark in color, and likely would have been fine had I not changed it. there was an average amount of metal shavings on the magnet, and nothing out of the ordinary. the fluid in the front diff was lighter in color than the rear, and again would have been fine for many more miles. i don't plan to change the diff fluids again until at least 30K more miles, so when the truck has about 50-60K miles.
