Since seat swaps are a popular charge on the Tacomas, here is my seat swap.

I purchased Corbeau Baja XRS seats with the double locking rail bracket. I very happy with these seats and the sturdiness on the brackets. I was disappointed with mounting hardware and lack of a hardware to mount the seat belt buckle. A trip to OSH which has an excellent hardware selection solved this problem.

Here is the assembled bracket. I added the 3/4" spacers to give more room for an under seat amateur transceiver.

    20170827_095946.jpg

The hardware I used here is 8mm-1.0 x 35mm bolts, 8mm-1.0 nuts and 3/4" spacers.

    20170827_100340.jpg

This is how I mounted the seat belt buckle. I used a 7/16-20 x 1" grade 8 bolt, DIY stepped spaces, OEM wavy washer, nylon lock nut.

    20170827_114949.jpg

    20170827_120516.jpg

The seats just fit but still can move for and aft and recline fully.

The spacers are actually a benefit because the Baja XRS seats sit very low. The added 3/4" brought the seats up the stock height. The head room is now the same.

The back rest has good lumbar support which is the reason I changed out the OEM seats. I wear size 38 pants and it is a little snug in the seat area. My butt cheeks are firmly squeezed together LoL. Hopefully as they break-in this will improve.

I'm taking a long Sequoia OHV trip this weekend...I'll update on comfort later.

Nice. Do they make them in grey to match the interior?

EDIT: found the answer lol. Dammit... never should have went to their website

I called there customer service and they said that black is the only available color. Too bad because black is hot and clashes with the interior. But function over form I always say.

How are the sholder bolsters ? Do they make your shoulders roll forward?

There are some stock looking seats that come in grey. Got me really debating it. They look plush af.

Make sure you look very closely at the specs IE: measurements for every seat and then go out to your truck with a tape measure to compare. Those stock looking seats you mentioned are actually one of the narrowest models they make. Be sure to not only pay attention to the measurements of how the seat will fit you but also how it will fit the truck IE: overall width.

Hmm... thanks for the info. Guess they're too narrow then?

EDIT: aside from the bolstering of OPs seats, the dimensions are actually 1" wider than OP's seats where the bottom is. 22 vs 21"

It literally just depends on you, I'm 5-9 165 lbs 32" waist, I have the LG-1 seats and they are snug in the shoulders. Pay close attention to the width of the seat bottom between the thigh bolsters, that stock looking GTS seat would have your legs pinned together.

I can see why, those seats have some crazy bolstering. There's not much bolstering on those "sport" seats.

    These look pretty tame.

dangit... along with new exhaust I guess I'll probably have to get seats as well :) Thanks for the info on the mounting OP. Always good info to have. Measure twice and fit once!

read the actual dimensions amigo...the sport seat is narrower and has taller thigh bolsters
Plush...nope, they will be far more firm than your stock seats. Try to find a local dealer so you can butt dyno before you buy.

Eh... I don't really need new seats right now. Better to do half a diff swap than install new seats when mine are fine

Well I am back from a excellent trip from King Canyon NP for some OHV fun.
Did 500 miles of freeway and 80 miles of offroading which was a good test of the seats.
Overall I am pleased with the seats. There a little tight in the seat area because of the bolster. They seam to be tighter than the seat I 'test drove' at the shop.
I like that the frame. It is rigid and doesn't flex to much. The bolster in the shoulder area is very nice. Being held into the seat on rocky trails that roll the truck back n forth is less tiring that holding against to the steering wheel.

    A few OT pics

This section turned us around. Little sketchy for a stock Nissan xterra. We could not find a line were the stump to the left was clear.

Try and look for an authorized retailer to sit in a set.

Personally, I've read a lot of quality control issues (not to mention discomfort) and steered away from Corbeau.

Went with a Sparco seat myself and being someone with a really bad back, I find my seat comfortable as hell.

You might find it uncomfortable though, every person is different. Like a mattress, no such thing as one size fits all.
