Trying to decide which ones to buy. It's a daily driver but also sees decent off road use many weekends in the mountains. My last truck had Toyos and they were honestly a great all around tire. My only knock is that they look a little plain. Anyone who has ran both feel free to chime in. Anyone who ran Cooper STT pro please share your experience also. I know enough about Toyo AT2 so no need to chime in there thanks.

Try the Cooper STT Maxx a little more aggressive than the AT2 really good OR from what I've seen and good on road manners. Seems to be a good blend. You can also try the Goodyear Duratracs (mixed reviews) or the Ridge Grapplers. All 3 of those tires are a little more aggressive than the typical AT for offroad but has better on raod manners.

I've ran both, the STT Pros gave me hell trying to balance them. I ended up swapping them for Nitto Trail Grapplers. I would do either the Toyo AT2s or Toyo/Nitto MT's. The AT2s will also last a lot longer than any MT.

I tried to run the STT’s and had to return them to discount for multiple issues. AT2 Xtreme for the win.

I went with Nitto Ridge Grapplers this go around. A tad more aggressive than the AT2. I like them.

Yea I'm pretty set on one of these 2. If I could bare the cost I'd consider goodyear mtr with kevlar

Hey guys i appreciate the suggestions and I'm sure you picked the right tires for your purpose Im not asking for suggestions outside of these 2 tires. Again im sure they are all great tires but these are my two choices and Im only looking for people who have run them and how they liked them. I've run the toyos and LOVED them and if i change its for Cooper stt pros. Thanks for your time and input though ive just been looking at tires for over a year and know my needs.

I was in the same situation you were a year ago between two tires. And what decided for me was the weight of the tire. The one tire was almost 8lbs heavier than the other. Maybe based on that spec alone would persuade your decision. Good luck

Those 2 tires are on opposite ends of the spectrum though. Where do you want to make the compromise on-road noise, comfort, and handling or off-road capabilities. Pick which of those compromises you want to make and there is your tire.

I have experience/knowledge of both of these tires you are looking at and if it were me I'd choose the Cooper it's a much better tire but you'll have a M/T on the st and will be giving up a lot of those manners. The AT2 is just not that great of a tire. Mediocre wet traction and compared to the cooper and other tires sucks in the snow. The AT2 is a good quiet st tire just average or sub par in adverse weather conditions IMO, and for an AT which is more of a ST tire they should be better.

The STT Pro well it's a M/T on the street what to expect. It's fairly quiet until it starts feathering and the treads start to get really uneven. Has ok at best wet weather traction. It is decent in the snow. Be prepared to rotate them and have them rebalanced more often. Rotations often like 5000 miles at most. This will help with keeping even tread wear so they don't get too noisy. I've seen issues with balancing them sometimes and they tend to need to be rebalanced more often.

    I did some stuff.
I've been running the STT Pro's (285/75R16 load range E) for just over 6 months now. I have ZERO complaints about them and they are installed on my daily driver. I've had no balancing issues like others have mentioned. I drive back roads, city roads, and the interstate on a daily basis and they have not given me any issues. Now they are a loud tire but so are most MT's. I've made 2 trips from southern Georgia up to Tennessee and still have not noticed any significant tread wear. As far as off road performance i don't have any complaints either. They clean out easily and have great traction. I'd recommend them 100%

At 1500 miles I snatched off the factory “AT’s” and put STT Pro’s on. They were great tires and I’d definitely recommend them.

    Pro’s

    Handled great
    Wore perfectly (5k rotations)
Grip everything and I mean EVERYTHING
Took them off with about 35k on them and still had probably 10k or more left
    Quiet for a MT
Do not collect trash. Clean out easily

    Cons

    Louder than an AT
    Clunky feeling
Worse mpg than an AT (if your concerned about mpg’s You should get a Prius)

The only reason I took them off is because I was looking for 17” wheels and got a great deal on wheel/KO2 combo. I didn’t have any of the issues other folks have but mine were rotated religiously at 5k. All the cons are because of...Well mud tire.

I would go the AT2 in the 255/80r17. They are going to be lighter, slightly taller and less likely to rub off road.

This^^^^^^^^ And even with that some M/T still end up being horrible as they wear. YMMV.

So I would put another con down as less forgiving if tire maintenance isn't done religiously.

I never had issues with them rubbing and I wheeled the hell outta them. I didn’t have spacers so I can’t comment on them.

Weight was definitely a factor. I went with falkens wildpeak at3w as they are only 2lbs heavier than toyos, lighter than cooper but had the look, price and multi functionality i need.
