I am going to mount one of these two tires in 285/75R16 on my Taco.

Which would you pick and why?

    Thanks in advance.

They're very different tires. Do you need an MT, or do you run mostly street and would prefer a smoother quieter tire and don't go offroad in the mud or deep snow?

I don’t go wheeling a lot, but some. I’ve had both tires before on my F-150 along with Nitto Trail Grapplers. The Cooper seems to be in the middle of the BFG and the Nitto. I do have to pass through the mountains of Western NC a lot in the winter.

I've had much better experiences with the STT Pro vs the Trail Graps, more aggressive IMO but also quieter. The cooper ST Maxx would be in between the MT and AT, may be a better fit. They do well in the snow, have decent road manners and are relatively quiet, but would clear out better than the KO2.

Cool! Thank you. I think the Cooper STT Pro is the best looking of the 3. It just seems like 3/4 of the people on here choose the BFG AT KO2 over everything else. I really appreciate your time and advice.

If you don't go wheeling a lot then you should probably stick to a more all terrain focused tire. In my opinion, you shouldn't choose tires based on looks. You should choose tires based on your use case.

Big price difference in the tires, Coopers are awesome but come at a premium. That being said, buy the tire that suits your needs best. I comprised for the road manners on my newest set and got the KO2s.

    STT PRO's...

    I have 285/75r16 load range E.

Ride is excellent. Quieter than the Duratracs I took off. Handles great on wet or dry roads. Great mud tire. Great on wet or dry rocks. Handles a load well. Look like DA BOMB! I'm at 29,500 miles and showing very little wear.

I tend to switch things up every chance I get just for something different. Will NOT be changing tires when it's time for new one's. STT PRO's are keepers!

As mentioned, it really boils down to your driving priorities and what you expect from your tires (road noise, handling, stopping, etc) but for me, I'd go with the BFG All-Terrain T/A KO2 due to the fact that I rarely venture off-road and prefer better street handling characteristics for my daily commute.

I drove the KO2's up the PNW this past February and I can attest that it was horrible in the rain or washed out freeway. All kind's of vehicles were flying by me as I struggle to drive in the rain. Every wash I hit would make the truck drag....hate em'. Driving with the 4WD high helped but wtf....everyone were flying by me as I struggle the death trap...maybe it's just my truck. But I have driven or rode in other vehicles up and down the Interstate 5 in heavy rain and nothing like the KO2. That's all I got to say. Honest opinion.

I'm glad you bring this up because DTD just recently started carrying the Toyo Open Country M/T, AT2 and RT in select sizes (see the link below). As for the Discount Tire stores, Toyo Tires is not part of their marketing plan but they can order them

I JUST ordered wheels and tires for my new Tacoma. They haven’t been put on yet. If I had known I could get the Toyo’s, I’d have gone a completely different way. I’m so mad right now. Had no idea you all were carrying Toyo now.

    Thanks for the reply.

Did you order through the store or through DTD?

The store wants you totally happy with your purchase and if Toyo Tires are what you really want, give the store a call and have them order a set for you.
