Just put these on in xl load 265/70/17. Fantastic initial impressions! The tires look badass and the truck handles great. Very happy with these.

Which should I go with? Wildpeak AT3w tires or Rugged Treks?

I'm just looking at the title of the thread you posted in, and the answer seems obvious. :D

Seriously though, I have no experience with the AT3's, but they seem like wildly different tires. The AT3W is a truly all-terrain tire, while the Rugged Trek is more of a hybrid AT/MT. Depending on what you want to do with them (off-road, on-road, aesthetics, etc) will guide your answer. If you're asking me on looks alone, the answer is clearly the Rugged Treks. If you want a decent street tire with low noise and good MPG's, the AT3W is probably the best bet. I think the AT3W's will serve well off-road, but the Rugged Treks would most likely out perform them in the more extreme circumstances... Especially in mud.

    Good luck!

Right, but maybe by now some people may have changed their minds about the RT. I haven't seen any recent reviews on here about winter traction. I need a tire that can handle snow covered roads and rough roads in the CO backcountry. I have had the Duratracs in the past but remember their noise level once the traction wears down some.

I still love my RT's and would buy them again in a heartbeat. I have no complaints in winter weather conditions... but our winters aren't extreme.

The Wildpeak AT3 are more similar to the Cooper Discoverer XLT vs the Rugged Trek.

I run Wildpeak AT3 on my 3rd Gen 4Runner and the Discoverer XLT on my Tacoma, I’d recommend either one over an MT style tire like the Rugged Treks but it just depends on your needs/wants from a tire.

I am looking at getting some new tires, and have been researching like crazy, and I am hoping for some feed back/suggestions. I am debating between 285/70/17 and 285/75/17. I plan on doing a CMC and pinchweld modding either way. I am not sure if that is enough for the 34's.

    Tires I am considering:
285/75/17: Cooper AT3 XLT or Yokohama G003 MT
285/70/17: Kenda Klever R/T, Cooper Rugged Trek, Kelly Edge MT

Anyone ran these Rugged Trek's and some of these other tires I have listed to compare against?
Anyone ran 34's before that can share your experience of fitting them vs a 33?

Anyone gone from a wildpeaks to this tire? My peaks have started to dry rot after only 2 years and were a bitch to balance correctly. Peaks used to be a good value but now they are about the same price as higher end tires. Going to need a new set by summer.

A bit slow to reply, but the tires have been great in all conditions thus far. I've been airing down to 12-15 psig for snow wheeling and rocking them at 31psi on the road. I've got roughly a 2" lift up front, with stock UCAs, and the 285's rub the fender liners slightly when reversing at full lock. I've got cmc plates ready to go, but I haven't seen a reason to mod yet.

•Road noise is roughly the same as my old Wildpeaks, as is snow and ice traction on the road. I've only had the rear kick out about a foot on a very icy corner in rwd at 25mph, but I was pushing them to breakaway. I would expect the same from any non-snow tire.
•Off-road, they've been flawless and have seen every type of snow. On one occasion, I did slide backwards down a hill that was a solid sheet of ice under a few inches of snow, but nobody is making it up that section without chains. The only time I've had to get out the recovery gear was no fault of the tires; I blame the skinny pedal (see below). 40 mins of digging, screwing with traction boards, sipping a beer, enjoying the sunset, and I was out of the snow drift.

These people complaining about tire noise... do they not have radios?

The RT's are by no means a quiet highway tire, but I've not found them to be considerably noisier than my old KO2's or any other tire I've driven around on. I'm actually surprised by how muted they are, given how aggressive the tread is.

I haven’t had other ATs besides the original KOs and they seemed ballpark to those
