Thoughts and comments. Cooper has discontinued the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S. I was doing some research as it is time to purchase new tires for my 2015 Tacoma DC TRD Sport with stock suspension and stock wheels of 265 65R17 tire replacement. I really wanted to find the AT3 4S but found they are out of stock and have been now replaced with the Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT 112T All-Terrrain Tire. Have any of you experienced these? If so how is the ride/noise and experience? I mostly use my truck for road driving as it is my main vehicle. I occasionally go off road and live in the northern climate so I need all year round tires that go in snow. I am replacing Brigstone tires that are not well rated for snow. I want to keep the Sport look but add a little aggression to the tires. Thoughts? Looking to not have a stiff ride but a tire that is good with all conditions and low on noise. Thanks.Discoverer_Road_and_Trail_AT_24910.png

I really liked the Cooper AT3. And after extensive research, I bought a set of Cooper Road/Trail. They look better in person than on the website. They will be installed Wednesday.

Let me know how they feel and ride. I need to get some within the month and really am leaning on a purchase. Thanks.

I'm interested in these tires, too. Going to need new one in a few months and these are at the top of my list.

Someone else posted this in a different thread, but there is a review of the tire you are interested in.

Thanks for the link. My concern is the road noise and ride. Hopefully the noise is not an issue. Review says that there is more noise and at times a hum at higher speeds. For a daily driver I don’t want a noise issue. I’m replacing Bridgestone Dueler H/T.

I have the same concern. I've read different opinions on the same tire.

I've been waiting to give a complete opinion on these tires until we get some real consistent rain here, but I can attest that they are quiet and soft on the road. More soft and quiet than the Discoverer AT3 4S. I would say offroad performance is slightly worse than the AT3 4S, but my mileage is all in dry conditions so far.

With the amount of siping, they should perform fairly well in snow.

How deep does the siping go? They look very shallow.

Just had 4 delivered. They're being installed in a couple of weeks. 265/75/16 SL. Replacing the Discoverer AT3 LT Load Range C in same size. I expect similar performance.

Wet/Rain performance is one of my top needs out of tire. After spending two commutes in the rain yesterday, Im happy with the wet performance I got from these cooper road/trail tires. 60-65mph in the rain, and never felt uncomfortable.

That’s great info. Most of us, whether we admit it or not, use our trucks as daily drivers/commuters; and don’t need even a semi aggressive all terrain tire, and would most likely be best served by something like the Michelin LTX, but most guys (myself included) don’t want a tire like that because it looks too SUV-ish.
The Coopers look like a great tire!

Michelin LTX goes on all of our cars. Has for many years.
For my truck, I look for “on road” AT’s. The truck sees dirt/mud roads to get to fishing spots, along with beaches for surf fishing. But, like you said, it spends WAY more time on the highway than in the dirt.

Well said. Tire Rack does a decent job of categorizing tires by type; touring, all season, on road all terrain, off road all terrain, etc.

From what I can tell after I had these installed, the siping varies from tread depth to shallower in spots. For example, it may seem shallow on the edges of the tread but gets deeper the farther in you go on the lug.

Thanks. Glad they do go deeper.

I'm also considering the Michelins, but they are so damn expensive.

I'm assuming if the siping actually cuts to full depth on the outer edge of a block then that might lead to tearing/ripping sections off more easily?
