I am looking for some good snow tires. I live in Central PA and we can get some snow - then again last year we got like 10" the entire winter. The stock tires on my SR are pretty much road tires. I was looking at a dedicated winter tire but WM is running a sale on their Cooper Discover ATs. They look like they may work well as a winter tire.

How much am I giving up going to an AT tire vs a dedicated snow tire?

Any experience with the Wally World Cooper Discover AT (I think they may be the prior generation of the Cooper AT3 not the current AT3S version)?

The worst thing I ever did was letting Walmart mount and balance my truck tires. Balance was mediocre and they hosed up a valve stem. Order from online and have someone like Firestone mount an balance.

I have had ATW’s it was a winter version of Cooper AT3’s. I currently run Cooper ST/MAXX. Like them both.

I would order them from WM and have my local garage mount and balance if I buy the Cooper AT tires from WM. I would have to get TPMS sensors for my spare wheelset anyway.

Winter tires really are a lot better when it’s icy roads/black ice time, frosty bridge decks, packed wet snow, that’s when their siping is superior to an all season. That said if you use 4wd when it does snow, put a couple hundred pounds of weight in your bed and drive like a sensible person sounds like you can get away with all seasons.

Those are not severe service rated, so they won't do that well in the winter time.

The true Cooper AT3 4S does much better, and I ran it as a year round up in Canada. I still ended up buying winters 2 years in but they worked.

I run a cooper discovery AT right now for summer and its awful in the winter.

So spend more on the all terrain rated for winter. Or buy a dedicated snow set.

That said, the walmart brand is sipped and looks ok for cold weather. Probably better than the oem tires for sure.
