No wonder summer camping in the south is gonna be crazy hot. Looking to get something to cool down my sleep area in the shell over my tacoma. Anyone used that Zero Breeze Mark 3 AC? Looks alright online. Haven't found any reviews here on Tacomaworld. Heard the Mark 2 has only 2000 btu. It wasn't that useful. Mark 3 says it's got over 5000 BTU, so hoping it works this time. Anyone used the Mark 3? Looking for some real info.
    Thanks.

5k btu sounds promising. Perhaps run 2 of them?!

I've thought about this and I'd consider going with a permanent Dometic RTX install in the shell roof.

    Pros:
    • 6000 btu of cooling.
    • Easily add batteries/power.
    • Relatively stealthy with cold AC and no generator required. (Good for quiet hours campgrounds.)
    Cons:
    • Must cut a [typical rv] opening in the roof of the shell.
    • Garage parking won't be an option (or will be severely limited.)
    • Cost will be ~$3,000

    Wow, $3,000.

My gawd we put a man on the moon in 1969, can't someone somewhere come up with a
small device like this that works for say $500.00 that runs 12v off a Jackery ..??

Welp you can plywood up a solution with a $150 AC window unit and $500 harbor freight 2kw predator generator and sleep comfortably.. although you may be giving off Clampett vibes.

There are ~$600 12v mini-split AC units on Amazon. No personal experience and have seen some van installs online. I'm not sure how this would work for our trucks unless you have a truck camper, alucab sorta shell or swing out bumper.

Yeah, I'm looking into this thing too. Just saw a review for it on some boat forum. Looks pretty sleek, I gotta admit. I like that it's portable and runs on batteries. Seems like it could be really handy. I was even thinking I could use it when my son's at football practice, but man, it's kinda pricey. My main thing is whether it's actually worth the cash. Gonna wait and see if more reviews pop up.
