I hardly know where to start. I will do A LOT more research on this. I’m looking to replace the hoses on my 2002 V6 pre-runner Taco 240k miles. (My Dad did minimal maintenance on this truck.)

I want to work on specifically the coolant related hoses as I will be doing a coolant flush soon… which it is overdue for. I want them to be silicone and blue as I want to color coordinate to function.

I’m wondering what freakin hoses do I need to do them all. If possible give me a list of areas/assemblys/sections/names/parts to buy.

I would also like to replace other hoses that will go bad that are unrelated to coolant. Feel free to mention some.

I also came across this in the forms
    https://www.siliconeintakes.com/liquid-air-adapter/silicone-boost-vacuum-hose-p-309.html

any help would be awesome thanks. IMG_5096.jpgHere’s a little look at the engine bay.

Welcome! Honestly, OEM. Don't know about the blue hoses you ask for but if the OEM lasted for that long, just get the OEM and spend the money elsewhere. You'll likely need it for other stuff.

Don't forget the thermostat, and the jiggle valve goes at the 6 o'clock.

Yea, you'll be paying for color, not quality.

at this age just start at the back and work your way front with every hose you find. They're all ancient.

I just RR-d 80% of my ancient hoses
Went to old school hardware store (ace in my area) the sell all kind of hoses by the ft.
Turns out, 3 of the sizes I needed were red! Works for me….matches the high HP plug wires u know…..

I’m at 345k and my hoses are still flexible, but are getting there.

Personally, I’m sticking with OEM, even though I do like sprucing up my engine bay

I’ll keep the stock hoses in mind. I found out that some of the houses are 8yrs old and I assume the thermostat is as well or older.

Do you mean that the ball on the thermostat should be at 9 o’clock? I will also plan on replacing this while I service my vehicle.

That’s a great point. I’ll look into this to see if any silicone hoses have a fix/made of better quality or material. I will heavily consider this while I shop; I might do tape on my rubber hoses instead or find something better that won’t hurt the rubber and look good.

That’s probably the best way to do it. I’ll note to work back to front when I do my replacements.

Forget the pretty boy-racer stuff for coolant hoses. They are too important to stray from OE.

OEM is great and all but I’ve never been done wrong by dayco! Literally the only coolant hoses I use anymore. The fitment is good as OEM and they feel great.

You know silicone automotive hoses are not silicone.

In much the same way 'stainless brake' lines are not stainless steel....
they are just braided stainless jacketed.

Its same for braided silicone, that's just the jacket.....
just protects from oxidation and abrasions...

the internal is always going to be the latest rubber tech.

    s-l1600cccc.jpg

Except for air intake or vacuum hoses.

And cant imagine buying those two silicone radiator hoses......that is SO wrong....

Those, like a battery, always want the freshest, the gates...
....for hot water and hot ATF lines.

not some hanging on a hook in the back for 6 1/2yrs...

I replaced all of my coolant hoses earlier this year when I flushed the system. I used Gates hoses. They are not fancy or color coordinated (but actually they do match my paint color) but they fit perfectly and have never failed me. I reckon I'm good for another 25 years now.

I wouldn't feel bad about aftermarket hoses, they may not outlast OEM and I'll probably change them out sooner, but they work. Just wait at least a month after install and check your clamps, the rubber tends to shrink at the clamps and a slow leak may develop - not enough to drip, but enough to see/feel if you check it. The clamps will need to be snugged up a bit.

I throw the money I saved on the aftermarket hoses to replace all the belts at the same time.

I'd throw gates hoses on and expect them to go for another 200k

    I’ll look into gates hoses.
