Came across this Toyota key fob that's way nicer than the current US fob. Anyone know if it's possible to take this Toyota India key fob and make it work on a Tacoma with push button start?

Edit: Its from an 'Innova Crysta' from India

Why don't you find out yourself.

That FOB looks a little too luxurious for the Tacoma. Should have a more rugged look for this truck.

Was looking to see if anyone knew if frequencies (or whatever technical word applies here) for all Toyota fobs were the same.

I'd agree on looks. But the current fob isn't rugged. Its the most unimaginative piece of plastic I've ever seen.

Unfortunately I would not know how to answer your question. But if you sit tight for a while I'm sure someone with that type of knowledge will come along and respond.

Works for me, I can see it.

Sorry OP, don't know the answer but it is a good looking key fob. Good luck!

There's a post on the Portland, OR Craigslist where a guy will program fobs for $50.

Yeah looks a little more like a European thing. What do I know I have an MT so those things are obsolete for me.

I'd love to have one of those, but I think I'd plasti-Dip that chrome part on it... It would look way better, eh..?

There is a thread on here of people converting their keys over to a flip key case they got on ebay or some such place. I know for those guys they just pulled the encoder chip out and moved it to the new fob.

It really depends on the frequency and compatibility. Look up what ECU part # is used in the vehicle that goes with, post up its IC and FCC ID.

*If* it's compatible, programming it really isn't a big deal. See my past posts on the Lexus credit card key. No need for rugged when my key stays in my wallet. :)
