I acquired a 96 Tacoma that is in excellent condition a couple of years ago. Great truck but not having power windows and locks was a nuisance. Especially when people were asking to buy the truck at a stoplight. I decided to convert to power but was unable to find much help online that met my requirements.

    1. Total cost less than $150.
    2. Keyless entry.
    3. Must look stock.
    4. Minimally invasive.
    5. Easily reversed. (In case things didn't work out)
After hours of research, I ordered the parts I thought I would need. It took a total of four days for the installation. A day and a half was spent on finding a location for the aftermarket door lock actuator. There are quite a few variables inside the door that I did not anticipate. If anyone is interested, I can provide a list of items I purchased and a template for where to install the actuator. It has been two months and no issues.

    Parts List

    From Amazon:
    • 12V Car Universal Crescent Power Window Switch Kit Car Power Window Switch Car Window Kit - $22*

    • After market Power Window Regulators - $35 ea*

    • ESUPPORT Universal Car Heavy Duty High Power Door Lock Actuator 2 Wire 12V Pack of 2 - $10
    • BANVIE Car Keyless Entry System for Central Door Lock with 4 Button Remote Control Transmitter - $17
    • JABINCO 5 Pack 12V Car Add-a-Circuit Fuse TAP Adapter Mini ATM APM Blade Fuse Holder - $6*
    Already had:
    • 30 amp relay*
    • Wire*
    • Wire connectors (2 pin* and 3 pin)
Addition parts I used to add door lock switches so I would not have to manually lock/unlock or use the remote while in the car

    From Amazon:
    * Parts required for power windows

I'd be interested in a parts list! Does this include controlling the passenger window from the driver's side? I'm starting to dislike my dance with fate as I close my passenger window when it starts raining on the highway.

TobsterStrudel - I put the parts list in the original post. It does include operating the passenger side window from the driver's side. The power windows are the easy part of the project. The switch kit comes with all the wiring required.

Fatal_Paradox - I am not sure what the differences are between my 96 and your 01. All of the parts would probably be the same but the location of the door lock actuator may have to change. Finding a location for the actuator was the biggest pain of the entire project.

My truck came with the factory wiring harness (up to the doors) for the power locks and power windows installed. The only mod I made to the harness was to use the 30 amp always hot power. Thus the need for the relay. I will work on a schematic but will not tell anyone how to make all the connections. There are many ways and everyone has their own opinion.

This project will take time and plenty of patience. I am very pleased with the outcome. Feels like a new vehicle.

DELL648. Where do you buy a Power Door Lock & Power Window combos handle (1st image & 1st post). I just bought a 2003 toyota tacoma 2.4L manual doors & windows and would like to convert to power.
    Thanks

mY13ToySalvagedTruck - I installed the door lock switch into the power window handle. It did not come that way. On the driver's side, I installed the door lock switch in a vacant switch position on the dash.

Good luck if you on your conversion. Patience is key. I'm 4 months in and haven't had a signal issue.

Is there an easy way to tell if my harness has the power options for lock and window ?

Fatal_Paradox - My first clue was the 30 Amp fuse in the dash fuse box. You can also remove the kick panel on the drivers side and look for the unused electrical connector. I believe it has 12-15 pins.
