    Alu Cab Contour cap
Hello, I just picked up my new 3rd gen Tacoma. I will be getting an Alu Cab Contour Canopy for it. I am on the fence about whether to get this canopy with the side windows or without the side windows.

My main concern of getting one without the side windows is when driving in reverse. Does not being able to see through the passenger side of the canopy ever pose any serious concerns when backing up or switching lanes? Does anyone have any buyer’s remorse on having a particular one vs the other? Any experience with or opinions on this is certainly appreciated. Thanks!

It’s not very often you need to look at that angle. Just sit in your truck and think about where that window is and turn your body to look through that spot. I used to look that way only because I parked at a funny angle at a mailbox. You need the back window more.

I don’t have an alumacab, but a regular ol fiberglass topper. I love the windoors mainly to help load and unload items deep against the cab.
Before the topper, I had the rear windows (rear doors too) tinted w 5% over the OE stained glass, so after the topper w tinted windows, I can’t hardly see out of it and it doesn’t bother me. Of course I spent a decade driving a company box truck, so I learned to drive w my mirrors,,,, and that was way before backup cameras!
As far as backing up visibility- I don’t think the windoors would do anything.

Agreed. I have the windows. You really cannot see much through them while maneuvering. You largely rely on the mirrors. The rear window at least shows more of what you'd want to see... The side windows - not so much.

I do like the windows as opposed to the solid sides for when hanging out in the back AND I believe that opening windows on both sides are a must. - At least for my use in outdoor pursuits and ease of access.

I originally wanted no windows for extra security and prying eyes. The week I was putting a deposit down a used one came up and I wasn't a fan of the windows at first but im glad I have them now. You can't see out of the passenger side one but the windows just make it look better to me.
