I got my letter yesterday. Truck is 2016 super white. Peeling at every door and both front fender creases. Fingers crossed.

I would have to imagine repaint has some sort of effect. Basically Toyota is admitting yes there is an issue with our paint and this vehicle had issues that have been corrected in the past. This increases the risk of issues in other areas in the future.

I think it’s a positive and negative for 2nd gen owners. Negative for owners looking to keep their trucks for the long haul. Positive for owners looking to trade in the near term. Toyota can’t doc you on resale/trade in value if they fail to admit there is an issue in the first place. Obviously you can’t roll in with chunks falling off. I plan on wrapping my pillars and telling them to eat shit when I trade mine in.

No, I don't think leaving the paint flaking will increase the value and I don't any one else would either. But any time there is work done that includes paint, or bodywork you will get dinged on it when you trade or sell. If you go to sell a car to Caravana, CarMax or even look on KBB it asks about paint and bodywork.

thanks fpr posting this! I have not received a letter yet, but have contacted Customer Care in Plano, TX. The lady said that my VIN is covered, just need to wait for the fix. She said that only door frames and fender wells were considered by this program....which would leave some of my peeling paint "uncovered". Anyway, progress is being made.

    Enough for now
Noticed literal waves of paint flaking up, I pushed them back down but I imagine one wash or highway in the rain and they will flake off

    also some near the hood

And alas behold my shitty no tape repair job

My white truck is doing the same around window trim. I’m thinking about wrapping the whole truck different color. I wonder how much that would cost?

And only last for ~5 years tops. And will still look like crap around the affected areas unless they fix the paint underneath first.

Hey mods. just wondering if this could be made a sticky as Toyota has recognized this as an issue now. Maybe we can continue to point to this thread and encourage all folks with this issue to post here.

My 06 Tacoma has the same issue. Yours could be a little worse than mine? Mine has patches flaking off the hood too.

When I was looking for a Tacoma, I really wanted white, but I was weary of these possible paint issues. Im really glad its finally being taken care of.

Now I have 2 areas. I thought it was a dirty line on my left rear door and when I ran my finger on it the paint came off. 2021 with 14k miles. I worry about the quality of Toyota's plan under the program.

Thanks, much appreciated! I'm looking forward to folks experiences with getting this fixed once Toyota issues an official repair.
