    I currently am running 265/75/16 Nitto Ridge Grapplers, and considering moving to the Goodyear Ultraterrain The reason for the move is for ride quality and mpg. I love the look of the Nitto's, however, I don't need a 56 lb. E load rated tire. I only go off-road a few times a year and no plans on rock crawling. I am looking to improve the highway ride quality.

    The Goodyears are rated at SL standard load and weigh 40 lbs.

    Anyone have experience on one vs the other, or any suggestions for a aggressive looking tire with a softer highway ride?

    That size is available in the Duratrac's with a "C" rating.

    i recently went from a 265/70/17 load E ridge grapplers. due to how loud they got. 54 lbs.. to a set general grabber's atx.. 265/70/17 standard load,, 43 lbs. no improvement in gas milage, i repeat no improvement,,,, ride is alot better, and they are awesome in the snow.. N.E. pa....

    Gas mileage didn't improve because you didn't affect the gear ratio's (same size tires). However, as you noted, your ride quality will improve with the softer tires. And your front-end and brakes will thank you.

    Nitto makes the ridge in 265/75/16 now that’s 48 lbs. It’s not an e rated tire.

    6BF56046-B357-49FE-9170-C808A148034E.jpg I’ve been running these Bridgestone Revo 3’s for a week now and really like them. I was told they’re 38lbs for my 265/70r16’s. Anyway, they’re much quieter than the Cooper ATP’s I had previously.

    I have Falken at3's that seem pretty smooth with sl load. We also have a Jeep with Cooper ST Maxx's that I really like also.
    If you dont want something too aggressive then I recommend the Bridgestone Revo's that someone above recommended too. Costco has good deals on those from time to time.

    Just finished a 6 hour road trip. Ouch, ~80mph ;-) 13.7-14.3 mpg. On the highway and felt every bump. And would never shift out of 4th unless going downhill with a tailwind. Would be okay if I just drove on town and on the dirt.

    Hoping that lighter tires and a OV tune will fix the shifting issues. And that the SL or C load range will fix the ride.

    Love the look of the Nittos, but I don't get enough chances to off-road much.

    They do make the Nitto Ridge Grappler 265/75r16 in Standard Load as well.

    My buddy had the Duratrac’s on his Chevrolet Bison and had two sidewalls cut within 2 weeks. Switched to KM3’s and is loving the BFG’s. Granted we wheel out in the desert on some pretty rugged terrain.

    Will post the Nittos up for sale once I make up my mind on a new direction and have enough post to qualify. They are pretty new, I’m sure someone will have a good use for them.

    I’m also looking for some tires, have read good things about Cooper AT3 4S. I believe they are a little cheaper than the ultra terrains. I really like the Revo 3’s too.

    I am running the Toyo Open Country AT2's as well. Great tire, balance well, good warranty, good in the snow as well.

    +1 for the Cooper AT3 4S... they are light, soft enough to give a great ride quality, have always performed well off-road for me without sacrificing anything in terms of handling or highway driving. And I have over 40k on mine and they still have around 10/32nds tread. I’ll easily get 55-60k out of these tires I spent less than 700 mounted for...

    I went from a 265 SL rated at 48lbs a piece to 285 E rated at 60lbs. I have no real difference in mileage 1-2 mpg city but highway is the same. 17/18mpg. You’ll get a negligible return swapping tires. Mpg stayed the same going from oem size to 265 also. You’re gonna lose more mpg with passengers than a tire change. These trucks don’t like weight.
    The duratracs are a good all around tire as long as you’re not wheeling them a lot. Have a paper sidewall

    Pulled the trigger on the Goodyear Ultraterrains, super quiet otw home and seem to need less pedal to get them going. Will update with feedback after a road trip. Post pics this week. I was surprised, same size 265/75/16, they seem a bit taller and a bit skinnier than the Nittos. (poss b/c they are new). I will post up the Nitto's for sale when I hit 50 post. (pls don't flag me :-0)
