Hoping someone can help educate me on what fog light housing/bulbs should be in my 2021 TRD Sport. Per the vehicle specs on Toyota.com, I should have “integrated wide-angle fog lights”. Page 547 of my owners manual lists what bulb types are on the vehicle. For front fog lights, it lists H16 for normal type and H11 for wide angle type. Over the weekend, I intended on replacing the stock halogen bulbs with a higher performance halogen, so I had ordered a pair of H11 bulbs. When I took the old bulbs out, they were H16 and I couldn’t get the H11 to twist into place.

Is it possible my truck has the wrong fog light housing?

BTW, I did also post this in the Lighting forum but figured it would get more attention here.

...or just swap them out for OEM led ones no bulbs needed

So, unfortunately for you the 2020+ trucks equipped with halogen fogs have a low performing H16 housing. If you want to stick with halogen you could search for a set of 16-19 TRD H11 housings to swap in so that you can run higher-performance H11 bulbs.

As @Clearwater Bill stated we could get you a set of something like the Diode Dynamics SS3 from us which will outperform any OEM or OEM+ option, or you could also get a set of OEM LEDs as @the_wanny referenced. They are pretty good for an OEM option.

So much this. My SS3 Pros still make me smiley every time I turn them on. Most recently it was driving through a snow storm going past Mt Hood/Government Camp.

I found some Rigids to swap out to. It was a direct swap and I really liked the improvement. They come up used fairly frequently.

    Thanks for all the advice.

Tone is hard to express via keyboard and I don’t want this to come across as rude or unappreciative… but I’m not looking for advice on what to swap my fogs with, just looking to confirm if I should have H11 wide-angle fogs as specified on the Toyota website.

No. Your truck (as equipped from factory) will utilize an H16 bulb. A change that was made in 2020 and applying to current-day. I have also heard that it is improperly referenced in Toyota literature as well.

Correct. My 18 has H11 wide angle. Hit a deer and bodyshop ordered 20 current, which was wrong, reflector is different along with lamp (H16)

I'll have to access from the bottom and remove the wheel-well plastic. I'll do this when the diodes get here...they're on the way.

Thanks for the advice...I will let you guys know what I find.

Alright, I got off my butt and went in...

    Here's what I found:

    thumbnail_IMG_6203_379e31dddedd938b177bfc534727d5e56fa5f617.jpg

    It's an H16

    thumbnail_IMG_6205_ee42819b0674a1d6258b468b950c3718f8f33ae9.jpg

Looks like this is plug-n-play from the pic on the website. Should be a good fit but time will tell.

I'll need to zip-tie the conversion length on the diode so it doesn't get beat up!

    Current set-up before diodes install.

    thumbnail_IMG_6018_8b40738db4b0d52eab6b54a3039c4963e6413595.jpg

At night, the current fogs look so dim/yellow compared to my LED Headlights--it's really annoying.

I wanted an easy LED install without having to remove the entire unit and the diodes idea was just something I found on YouTube.

I've also ordered LED license plate lights...but they were only $13.99 on Amazon.

Diodes arrived last night...I will tackle this install either today after work or this weekend.

Weekend came and went...so, today I shall do this! lol

    OP, how goes your plan?

The diodes are H11 and come with the conversion harness. I'll let you know how my install goes if you want to go this route.

I scored some fog light housings from a 2019 in the marketplace here on TW that have the H11 bulbs. USPS tracking says they'll be delivered today.
