Stole this image from a Justin Pretty on the Tacoma Enthusiast Facebook page. Does the factory make fender flares that are color-matched or are being doing it on their own? I think the black fenders make it look a bit cheap. And I know that the black fades to grey over time as mine have on my truck. Anyone know?

They are black so when you rub up on something you don't destroy them.

I actually love the black fenders on teh 2016's - they look much more burly than any black flares toyota has used since the 3rd gen 4runner "sport" flares.

Yes Toyota makes them for other models. I don't think you can order an OR from the factory with them though.

I think the color matching looks so much better. Just a personal preference. Could you order the painted flares from Toyota with that part #? I just hate the look of flat black plastic on trucks.

Do you want to know if you can order them installed from the factory, or if you can order aftermarket and install yourself? I know you can order aftermarket and install yourself.

Ahh good to know. Kinda of the opposite of tacojohn. I like the black flares, but unfortunately the TRD OR doesn't come in AC V6 MT, I have to get the Sport, which has color coded flares...would need to order the black flares, that and switch out the 17's for 16's rims. I can live without the locker, rarely use the one I have now.

Are the flares attached like the older trucks? Plastic fasteners through the fender...or on they bolted on underneath, and attached with double sided tape to the side.

Or just paint them with bed liner...or I can see guys just swapping, since it seems everyone has their own taste.

That's funny, the Offroad is only availabe in Canada in the access cab with either Manual or Automatic tranny. No DCSB OR's tho.

Not sure why they did that. I have to make a Sport into a quasi OR....actually what I truly want, is a SR Utility package, AC V6 MT, they don't make that either.... then I could build the suspension exactly how I want it. Because I will be tearing out the Sport or OR boingers regardless. I have pay for all this extra stuff I don't want or need just to get the V6 MT in an AC.

Could get the 4 banger, doesn't have enough oomph for me. It is ok for daily driving, but for camping and hauling dirt bikes, it would be painfully slow going up into the mountains.

I have thought about doing a similar thing with the DCLB. I like the hood scoop and color-matched fender flares of the Sport.
