Cold air intake void warranty?

I'm thinking of getting a K&N cold air intake for my truck.. just for sound, I was wondering if anyone knows if that voids any factory warranty? Also, any other suggestions to add some rumble?

 

If you insist on a different CAI then I suggest the TRD. You do know you already have a CAI from the factory right? The TRD model looks nicer and is unlikely to void any warranty (although it's not a guarantee it won't void it these days). This is one of those nasty subjects here on TW. Be prepared for a flaming dumpster shit storm.

It has happened in the past, Toyota has been successful in declining warranty repairs due to the k&n.

Specifically though, the guy probably needed to learn a lesson.

Toyota has done this, but it doesn’t mean they will with every case.

 

Get a real CAI..all the noise, all the looks, better performance

You could get a turbo charger + intercooler. Plenty of sound and probably some cold air, it does not have to be engine or vehicle specific to install. You could also look for a take off, TRD, DAI that someone didn't want on their Pro. The DAI, also might be available as a dealer accessory.

 

True. But for half the price or less, you can buy something cleaner than the TRD dorkel. The dorkel air intake (DAI) is ugly.

Blasphemy. All snorkels are beautiful in their own individual way. Snorkel shaming will not be tolerated here!

 

You'll probably get just as much a gain by just ripping out the charcoal filter in the filter box. Of course it could void your emissions warranty but that's another story.

But think of the sounds the owners will make when they see that dorkel on their truck.



Whats Toyota's motivation with the their trucks? We have the DAI, as the last big change to the Tacoma, and talks of a hybrid Tundra/Tacoma platform coming to production.

 

"Our customer base wants a US diesel model. What can we give them instead? Dorkels!!"
