I originally asked this question in the "Whatever" forum but got no responses.
All right all you 1st gen gurus, are these two parts the same(Coil Spring Isolator), the black one came with the top hat, I just ordered the 2 red ones. They both look the same to me, and both fit the same on the top hat. which ones would you use.

Is the black one rubber? If so that's the isolator. The red one looks like a spacer for a 1/2" lift.

Nope it's not a spacer like you'd use for taco lean, I already have one. These are a set of Poly coil spring isolators according to the packaging tag.

    Color me confused.

I've changed dozens of 1st gen coil overs and I have not seen these.

well a question for you. Did you replace the top hats, and did they come with the coil spring isolator like these from KYB did. just curious.

I have to think that this post has stumped the great TW 1st gen members. Many have looked at it but only one response.
So here's some more information. A link to Parts Geek for the Strut mount with rubber parts included. I'm suspecting that this is the coil spring isolator, but when I asked this question a month or so ago, I was told not it's a separate part.

    https://www.partsgeek.com/4289bz8-t...k+ShopZilla&fp=pp&utm_term=Toyota+Strut+Mount

So I ordered these from Autozone, here's the link for the energy suspension poly coil spring insulator.

    https://www.autozone.com/suspension...l-spring-insulator-9-6104r/705283_143604_5933

so now I'm going to assume unless someone here on TW tells me different that I now have 2 sets of coil spring isolator/insulator. I think once I get the first shock removed, I'm going to use the poly and keep the rubber for spares. Do I have to grease these poly spring insulators to keep them from squeaking. Also for those of you that have fixed your Taco Lean with a spacer, did you have to use longer studs on the Strut Mount, or did the original ones on the part work okay.

Your top hat does not look right to me.

Mine have always has a single hole for the shock top to sandwich between 2 rubber bushings.

Why does your top hat have something protruding up?

It's a spacer to fix the proverbial "Taco Lean".

    I see.

It never bothered me enough to want to deal with it.

Ate these an aftermarket type of coilovers for our 1st gens?

I've only ever dealt with factory or similar type replacement.

I am researching for my next replacement set that will give me 1tob1.5 inches in lift. I've been happy with the factory ride so far.

No, I'm just installing some 4600 shocks with my stock springs. New top hat, all new rubber for the shocks. If they start looking tired and droopy, then maybe i'll put some "Moog" problem solver springs on. Time will tell.
