Helping a buddy out with his 1996 Tacoma v6. Anyone familiar with this P0758 code? 3 solenoid in transmission.

O/D light in cluster flashes with check engine light on. Truck picking up speed very slow. Gas pedal down to the floor, rpm/speed raises slowly. Truck do not shake when picking up speed but shift harsh.

    What's been done:
    -fluid look good/red when drained
-2 of 3 solenoid click in the faulty transmission, test a working transmission, same result
-3 wire harness have continuity to pigtail
    -new filter and dex3 fluid

    Any solution?

It's less Tacoma and more mod
It's stuck in 3rd gear because the shift solenoid isn't functioning. Check wiring first but you'll probably have to replace the solenoid. They're freaking easy to do, just have to take off the trans pan

Even when the solenoid is jumped with 12v and click, can it still be defective?
