Sorry if answered already but I used the search function and couldn’t find the info I needed. My clutch needed to be pressed further and further to the floor to start my Tacoma.
Saw info here about the switch and that they sometimes go bad. Ordered a new switch. Replaced the old one. Truck won’t start. I jerry rigged a spacer on the plate of the clutch. Truck starts easy. Is the rigged deal I have now the only way to fix? There are no floor mats in the way. What else could it be? Thanks in advance for any help.

Not sure how you “rigged it up”.
But does the Clutch Start Cancel Switch not working too?

The Clutch Start Cancel Switch does work, but I was under the impression you shouldn’t rely on that. I rigged it by putting a half inch metal spacer on the flat piece on the clutch arm that engages the clutch switch.

I assume the switch to start the truck is just an interlock defeat, so once it's pushed it's pushed. I would be worried about the clutch not being able to bottom out the cylinder with a spacer that's too big.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Better check that your clutch pedal bracket or the firewall is not broken

once the switch is installed and adjusted it should work just fine.

Did you check the the switch you removed??

This is one of the first things to be removed on all my vehicles

Are you sure the bracket the switch mounts to isn't bent?

Remember the good old days when we didn't have clutch switches in order to start the engine.

OP you should be fine with your spacer.

Didn’t even check, but I will tomorrow. Not even sure why I didn’t check. Haha.
