    Ahhh, sounds great.

Always liked the ability to fine tune the dry clutches and so easy to work with. Miss my old bike. My newer Duc doesn't have as much soul, but belt change/valve adjustment intervals are much further spaced which is nice as its main purpose is a commuter.

Yeah. Not wrenching every 6k would be nice.

UPDATE: I replaced the clutch with an OEM AISIN kit. Changed pressure plate, TOB managed to save the flywheel with a bit of machining.

I wanted the Centerforce clutch kit with flywheel. Local jeep shop said they could get it for me 1,700 Canadian with shipping. But the transmission shop didn't think it was a good idea because if there was a problem it's hard to deal a shop in Airizona. If I had another vehicle to use in the meantime I would have but it's my daily driver for work. OEM swap cost me 3500 parts and labour.

Grabs alot faster and is very responsive. Only issue after a day of driving so far. Truck is throwing check engine light and TRAC OFF light. I disconnected the battery and it cleared the lights but today they are back on.
Also the engine seems louder like rumbling almost like a bad muffler sound. There is also a peeping sound which sounds like serpentine belt.

I'm going to take it back to the shop when I have time because it's 70km from home, but just wondering if anyone has any insight to what adjustments need to be made to clean up.these noises.

    Thanks.

    $3,500? Wow.

My guess is that they missed a connector, screwed up an AF / O2 sensor, or didn't replace the exhaust gaskets. The four front ones cannot be reused. For the price you paid, this fix better be on their dime?

Well the neighborhood mechanic shop quoted me at $4800 because they didn't want to deal with machining the flywheel.

So I felt 3500 was not as bad. The OEM parts are really fucking expensive. I even checked with my friend who used to work for Toyota.

Yea I will take it to them and mention those things to check.

    Thanks

What in the world have you been listening to? The clutch is a wear component just like brake pads. Use it harder = it wears faster.

To chime in, I did mine at home with an AISIN Clutch kit, cost about $280. I regret doing it myself since I didn't have a transmission jack and that really complicated the job. I think I was quoted around $800 for the labor.
Knowing what I know now, it'd be an easy job. But those top bellhousing bolts were hard to reach until I went out and grabbed an battery powered ratchet for them. Took me two days since I used ratchet straps to raise and lower the transmission/transfer case and it was sketchy as hell.

I wasn't going for any upgrade in performance, I just wore the clutch out on too many rock gardens, too much towing, and careless offroading.

For the effort, $800 is a fair quote at decent shop rate. But you are right, doable at home and those top two bolts are the only real struggle other than a trans jack. If there is a next time, I will get at least 24in of extensions for those. I had about 18in with too many connections.

Not sure where to ask this question so I'll throw it here for now..

The check engine light and TRAC Off light keep have stayed on since replacing the clutch. I had the code read and it's throwing PO43000 Cat system efficiency threshold (bank 2)

I have been noticing a blowing/rumble noise from the exhaust that wasn't there before replacing clutch.

The guys that replaced the clutch told me they did not replace the gaskets and just lubed them and threw them back in.

Should I assume the gasket is bad and make them replace it?

Clutch is working great. Feels great to have the power back again to merge onto highways haha.

As I said, you cannot reuse the gaskets. They screwed up and should fix it given the extreme amount that you paid. I purposefully left the Y pipe connected to the rear cats when I did my TOB for this exact reason. The right cat to Y pipe gasket is stupid expensive.

Sorry to dig this up a year in the past but I'm about to do this job over the weekend and was hoping for a bit of clarification. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VeqGyPTczg

Did you unbolt the exhaust like this dude does in his video (starting at 2:20) or did you take the rear cats off with the exhaust? Trying to avoid making an expensive mistake, thanks in advance!

Remove the (silver) long heat shields from both sides of the transmission to save your arms getting the nasty cuts. Ask how I knew about it.

    Sorry! I was out camping.

I removed the rear cats while still connected to the Y pipe. Super easy to do. The gasket between the cats are cheap, as is the left rear cat to Y pipe. The right side one is like $70? You always need new gaskets unfortunately.
