Clutch pedal slow to return when cold

The last several mornings have been below freezing, and I have noticed my clutch pedal feels slow to return all the way up. Last inch or so of travel is where I notice it. After driving for a while it feels normal. Anyone have any experience with something similar?

I did have that happen on my 2008. The clutch slave cylinder was going going and eventually gone. Pedal would not come up unless I pulled it up. Start planning on replacing.

Yes, mine is very very slow when it's less than 30°F outside. Everyone says it's normal including Toyota, though none of the other 5 manual vehicles I've owned had this problem. I doubt your Clutch Master or Slave are going out, it's just a design problem that Toyota hasn't bothered to do anything about. Slightly annoying, yes. End of the world, no. You just have to baby it a little until things warm up.

Mine is a 2020, 8k miles. I'm not to concerned since it goes away and feels normal within 5 miles of driving, and only happens when cold. I just wanted to ask others and see if they had similar issues...

My ‘20 with 12k miles does it too

 

I just chalk it up to being another Taco thing. My 2016 and my 2020 with 5k miles do this as well. None of my other manual vehicles have done this lol.

 

The little reservoir is on the fender so the fluid gets cold, it should be normal after driving a few minutes

 

My 2019 does it for the first few shift changes when cold.

 

many reports just like yours with the 3g's. i even get this in north texas at 30F. it loosens up pretty quick after running a bit.

 

I had a 2000 and 2008 Tacoma's, they never did it but the clutch actually used the brake master cylinder reservoir for fluid. Both my old 2015 and 2017 do it but they have separate clutch reservoirs.

 

Mine does the same. My opinion is its the cold accumulator creating the lag. After a few pumps, it clears up thou....

 

My second gen was the same but returned to normal after a few kms.

 

This is normal. And no the clutch accumulator delete doesn’t fix it unfortunately. It does clear up quickly though.

 

Unfortunately, no. A lot of folks with the ADM still report the same issue.

Bleed it? Maybe you got some air in there.

 

I am on my 5th MT vehicle and the clutch felt a bit different when cold on all of them. I would not worry about it.

 

It's the fluid viscosity. Just give it a minute.
