So this has been happening for some time now, but it seems like it's getting worse. When I start to first accelerate or when the truck levels out at a stop, it has a distinct clunk type feel to it. I say feel because I can't hear anything when it happens, but it almost seems like something is loose and slipping. I'm going to check the torque on the U-bolt nuts, but has this happened to anyone else before? Could this be axle wrap getting worse? It appears to be coming from the rear of the truck best I can tell. Thanks.

Torque your Ubolts to 73 ft. Lbs. This was a problem from factory. Do a search.

I just checked the U-bolts and they were all torqued at 73 ft/lb except one.

Damn, I figured that was the culprit. Spare tire snug?

Yep. I checked it while I was under there. I'm just hoping it is nothing to do with the transmission.

I just did a drain/fill two weeks ago. If it was that, it should be fixed by now. I appreciate the info though.

I'm 99% certain my needle bearing is going bad or has already done so. I'm starting to get a growl when coming to a stop.

Check the lower control arm bolts. Mine did the same thing after getting an alignment - tech forgot to tighten bolts...

I didn't think to do that. I'll definitely check them next chance I get.

    Same crap everyone else got
check the LCA bushings. If they are bad and the LCA is moving around like it shouldn't, it would be on a start/stop or acceleration/deceleration.

And also it could be something as simple or dumb and something loose rolling around in the bed, bed cubbies, under seat storage. Check all those things too.

Slip joint. Don't know why Toyota didn't put a grease zerk on it. You can remove DS & grease it and it will go away for a while.

I’m going to reopen this old thread and tell you the solution I found. I’ve had this issue for years and have spend dumb money on a transmission mount, carrier bearing, slip yoke lubing, righting u bolts, check spare tire play, etc.

About 2 months ago I developed a horrible squeak in the right rear end. I could push the bed down and it would squeak. It just so happened that I was having an CV joint replaced and asked them to tell me where it was coming from. They said rear shock. I put in new shocks about 8 years ago due to a wreck. Lately the ass end of the truck didn’t seem to stay down and so I bought some Bilstein 5100. I have zero lift. When pulling the old pro comp shocks I noticed that the upper bushings were hard and compressed. There was play in the top of the shock. After putting in the new shocks (the pro comps turned out the were just fine). The cluck is gone! It might be worth buying 4 upper shock bushings and installing them. Very cheap fix. Horse them down in between the washers until they expand the same diameter of the washers.

So happy this was an easy fix.
