Recently bought a 2022 sr5 and am now hearing a clunk every time I accelerate from a complete stop. It’s not super loud and sounds like it’s coming from the front driver side. Sometimes it happens when I come to a stop. It previously only did that whenever I would accelerate after starting my truck and that’s it which I learned was just the ABS self test but now it’s doing it after I accelerate from every complete stop. Truck has 600 miles on it.

Try going from drive to reverse and back again. Does it clunk everytime you change direction? If so it’s called brake pad slap. Death that here on Tacoma World. It’s normal for these trucks. Seems strange I know, but it is.

This may or may not work, but maybe grease your driveshaft. I had a clunk in my 2006 Tundra and 2020 4runner and grease fixed both.

Do nothing. Just go to the dealer. I can also give you hope by giving you my opinion on what the clunk sound might be without hearing it. A video clip would be a big help. My opinion is that it might be a dried up french fries stuck somewhere clunking things up. However, it cannot be because you haven’t started eating in your brand new truck yet. So, it’s not that. I’ll keep guessing.

Brake caliper bolts loose?, when you accelerate forward, caliper moves back and backwards moves forward.

Check for a loose item in the storage area under the rear seats.

That was my first guess. I have had that happen before. Also, check the lug nuts. I have also had those go missing (never let 4WP touch your truck).

    Disclaimer: not OP

Boy oh boy did I feel dumb as a brick once when the mechanic identified my clunk as the putt putt golf ball I keep in the center console. I bet they still tell that story and have a good laugh to this day.

Wouldnt surprise me if something is loose or not greased, just saw a video of a guy in a new sprinter with loose cv axle bolts. Just take a look and take a picture if you find something wrong and take it to the stealership where they will park it in the back for 6 hours.

If you've never seen "customer states" you would have been a perfect fit there

A good one to look up is "just rolled in". The recent videos are great.

But yea, take it to the dealer. It's brand new, have them diagnose the issue. So many things this could be.

I actually saw one for a brand new dodge charger where the oil pickup tube wasn't connected... 217 miles on it. Shit happens. Cover your ass and bring it in ;)

Like mentioned before have them look at your driveshaft. This happens with my 80 series land cruiser when I need to grease the zerks. Which if that's the case with your brand new truck would be a problem.

I’m 3045 miles in on my SR5. Same thing as OP just started happening, same area too. Same suspicion - lug nut or brake system. It’s cold AF in MI and I’m not an expert, so the dealer is where I will go.

On the 2nd Gen trucks there was a TSB where the drive line got replaced. Mine was out of warranty and so I just live with it.
