How many people on here are having issues with the BD tuner? 1 is too many, but are we sure the issues being reported are due to Bully Dog and not with the host of other mods that most of us have which may or may not work well with the SC? I'm not trying to take the blame off of BD if it's deserved, just playing devil's advocate.

I plan on installing mine shortly, but was told that the TRD tune isn't legal in my great state of California, which means I'm stuck with the BD tune.

I agree with that! A custom tune is specific to your truck, not just a general tune. It's worth the time if you know someone with a dyno

You're not the first person to lay blame on other mods. I'm certain that in my case other mods are not the problem. I started with a fuel pump upgrade and a 2.85" pulley. Stock intake. Stock exhaust. The problems were immediately apparent on the first test drive.

There's no way that the fuel pump would cause a severe lean condition when the thing puts out a solid 43psi in all conditions. And the Bully Dog has a 2.85" pulley tune. So having a 2.85" pulley should also not cause a severe lean condition.

I'm in the same boat. My blower is coming this week and I'm not using the BD! It's the TRD tune or a custom tune.

He may need to drive out of state to have the TRD flash done. If the TRD flash isn't CARB approved, would a Cali dealer do the flash?

The other option is buy a Mongoose cable and a 2-day sub to Techstream and DIY.

cali dealer will flash the ecu, you just have to pay.

the trd flash is carb approved, (just not with the magnuson unit, u need the trd stamp unit)

moongoose is big investment, worth it for those stuck with BD corrupt tune. but if you have clean slate better off just get trd reflash and save some money.

    Ok, gotcha.

I wouldn't go as far to say that a Mongoose is a big investment, though. Considering the mountains of cash most of us dump into these trucks, the cost of a Mongoose is pretty insignificant.

Would you install it already. I've already dropped $10K in a year and I want to see a second success before I spend any more money.
