Hello taco world I am having an issue and I am hoping some1 can help. I would hate to take my 05 Tacoma to a mechanic.

Yesterday while in a hurry to get home I started hearing a clicking noise come from the rear of my truck when I would take off fast from a stop. I recently had fox reservoir shoc installed. But other than that I don't see a reason for it to be making a noise. Please help.

Hard to diagnose with such a vague description.... could be numerous different things "clicking"... could be as simple as dirty leaf packs or something more serious...

Axle wrap due to worn out leaf springs. Plain and simple. To fix it: new leaf pack, or an AAL (Add A Leaf)

Is your truck a Sport model with a rear limited slip diff (LSD) or SR5 with the optional LSD? If so how long have you had it?

Only does it when you take off fast?? Take off slow, no click?
First thing I though of was a rock in the tread of the tire but
if it only does it when taking off quickly, no.

Every eight feet or so? Chipped ring gear tooth. Every couple of feet? Bad u-joint or chipped pinion gear tooth.

I would say wait til it breaks mainly. But my truck has a click and I think it's slop in the drive line. Will happen when going from R to D sometimes. My buddy has a tundra 06 and his clicks too, his CB is shot but it did it before. But we couldn't figure out any remedy so live with it til it breaks is our mentality.

it did make a noise only in reverse before i installed fox reservoirs. but it went away after i installed them. but just to confirm it only clicks when taking off fast from a stop other than that theres no clicking while driving past 10 mph or in revers. and there is no clicking if i take of slow and steady.

Pull the u-joint straps off the u-joint at the diff and feel for binding in the rear and middle u-joints.

Grease u-joints on rear drive shaft. Check for noise or change in noise.

This, one at a time. If the noise changes or disappears, then replace at least that one u-joint.
