So I have a weird clicking noise a month after replacing brake pads from the front passenger tire that seems to click with the rotation of the tire. I tried jacking it up and recreating the click by hand turning the tire but doesn't work.
When the truck is cold it doesn't click, click goes away as soon as I apply any pressure to brakes (so its not a rock in the tire), it takes about 10 minutes of driving to start clicking.
Anything you guys think I should look at? I think its most likely a loose brake part but when I had it jacked up I took the wheel off and everything felt tight.https://youtu.be/JQNC-HlYeIs
I went and replaced the pads and rotor with new parts and springs.
    No more clicking.
    Thanks guys!

Mine have clicked since it's had about 30k on it, I think it's an inherent issue with how the pads are secured to the calipers, they get a slight bit of play in the pins and they click when the brakes are applied especially after a change in direction.

Could also be the retaining clips are worn. Common on old brakes and some replacement pads don’t come with new retainers. Either way it’s cheap enough to buy 2 sets (one set per caliper) and install them.

I know this click you speak of. The one I have now is completely different.

That’s the retaining clips. Mine do that when the brakes are worn, but before the wear sensor touches the rotor.

It sounds exactly like a rock stuck in a tire tread. It speeds up and slows with the rotation of the tire.

Is it possible the backing plate got slightly bent in the process and it rubbing on something?

Thanks to all for your input.
It has been fixed. I took the brake assembly apart, the back of the pads were bone dry. I applied a layer of grease, slapped it back together and now its quiet. No more clicking.

    Thanks all!

Interesting, maybe you could get a recording so we have an idea of what we're chasing?

I'm thinking it may be the springs that hold the pad off the rotor while driving as it appears they don't quite fit right with the pads I have. Any suggestions for a good quality pad?

Oem. Also the spreader clip(the one that looks like a W) I have one top and bottom on each side.

I had one on top and just went to auto zone and got a set of new ones and installed another on bottom...still clicks

What would happen if I have the pads on the wrong sides? Maybe this could be my problem???
I'm pulling my hair out over here!

Can you duplicate the click just spinning the tire by hand? The retaining pins are lubed? The shim plates that go on back of pad are lubed? (Should be two per pad, one solid one and one that has slots). None of the clips the pads fit into are missing? These are things that come to mind.

Akebono pads are good and I believe oem for some models.
I would check the guide pins to make sure they let the pad float.

I have only one set of shims on them. You might be onto the problem.

I'm trying to post a video of it but TW won't support mp4
