What is the position on adding a final clear coat on refurnished wheels?

I plan on using VHT wheel paint.

Is clear coat necessary or will it hinder future repair if I need to touch up later?

    Thanks

What are the instructions on the wheel paint?

I have 4Runner TRD Pro wheels and they are not clear coated.

If you have black wheels I would not do a gloss clear coat. Only go with a matte finish or your tires will always look like shit against the gloss black.

Wheels will be painted satin black. Have not picked a clear coating.

Thanks for the reminder about the tires.

The vht wheel paint suppose to be more durable against chips and what not . They sell matt clear but not satin so defeats the purpose of the satin black. :facepalm:So guess you cant clear it if you want satin
I wanted matt black but decided on satin black because to me was easier to up keep.
Pic of satin black powder coat .Ended up putting chrome factory lugs and emblem back on .Was too much black

I had wheels painted gunmetal gray but when tire shop replaced tires every rim had scratches and not on lip of rim . Don't no what the fck they were doing .Was going repaint black but decided to powder coat instead .
