After a 2000 mile trip thru Nevada, Arizona, Utah a week ago I noticed the paint just above my windshield looks like patches of the clear coat is peeling off. Kind of looks like giant water spots. The paint still is ok. Is there anything I can do to stop this or make it look better? I do not want to have to repaint the truck.

Repaint is your only option, unfortunately. And it will just continue to get worse. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it is what it is.

A GOOD body/paint shop might be willing to try blending. But you never really know what you're gonna end up with.

What he said. You might be able to Google videos in YouTube on how to do it to allow it down but that is about it.

Like this. I don't know if it works but if you were looking at a stop Gap, it might be worth it.

I had the same issue, I elected to have my trucked wrapped lol...was much cheaper then a full repaint and will last 5 years or so.

Sand down the flaking and vinyl wrap the leading 12" of the roof? That might be what I'd do on a truck I didn't want to have painted and just trying to stretch things out a bit without spending any money.

A little something every chance we get.
The video a few posts above is exactly what I did, on the window and top sides of my truck. My job lasted about a year and a half, but the real issue was that areas I didn't do had appeared by then. I did NOT go as far as the guy in the video (too scared!), but if you do, it works very well, and total $50 in DIY costs. One can of the clear coat is enough for the whole roof for sure. (Then you don't have to blend!) Just use the 3M pad until there is just color left, then spray.
On page one of my story, you will see how mine went. On page three, you can see I decided to catch up with the rest. I let my tint friend do it. Both doors, and the roof redone - $700.

    Have fun!

I would get the roof and hood Line-X'ed. They charge $650 around here. Just think you will never have to wax those panels again. :)

Yeah I find it funny that people rub wax on and off these days when you can just spray McKee's 37 Hydro Blue on a wet truck then rinse it off. Dry it with a microfiber towel and you are good to go. LOL!

with good prep, you can get good results from rattle cans. not too expensive.

McKee's 37 Hydro Blue is not a spray on wax. It is a coating.

I have yet to see anything “spray on” work as well as a wax and last as long. I would have to do this every wash?

My 06 Corolla started doing this. Within a year and a half from the start my clear coat on my hood, roof, pillars, and trunk were gone. The roof paint was next and then the rust started coming out. I went from loving my car to hating. It was still a good car, but it looked like a complete clunker due to this.
