I like the weather tech mats, but they seem impossible to clean. The photo I'm posting was AFTER I soaked it with soap, then scrubbed it. It's bugging me. Any tips anyone has found to keep these things in decent shape?20210309_161112.jpg

I use an all purpose cleaner and scrub them with a stiff brush and lots of elbow grease. They never look "new", but once I put a dressing (303 Aerospace) on them they look great.

It’s a fucking floor mat. You put your shoes on it. Why the hell would you care what it looks like???

It’s protecting your carpet so that’s good, but it’s a replaceable piece of plastic. Who the fuck cares!

Rant over, if you actually care simple green will take that off. But again this is the place you set your feet...

Use a strong water jet to remove the big stuff.

Spray surface (all of it) with Simple Green, don't dilute.

    Scrub with nylon bristle brush

    Rinse

Lean 'em against the wall to drain and dry.

    Put back into truck.

Its a floor mat. S'pose to be a little grubby looking.

use the tire cleaner. The waxes will help to make cleaning the next time easier as well.

Because it's a new truck and I take care of my things.

    Thanks for the useful tips.

I actually emailed weather tech, they just want to sell you cleaning supplies. I found a decent video on youtube, and I'll be combining your tips with what I saw. I'll post results and what was used.

I've actually heard the stuff they make is decent from people who use it.

One issue with cleaning then with all purpose cleaners or following up with dressings is that they'll just transfer the dirt off your shoes back onto the mat. You really need to rinse them clean for the cleaners and for the dressing make sure it's free of excess product and dried.

because people like to take care of their shit. Sounds like others on here with “grunt” it’s a truck “grunt” then beats chest.

The Weathertech products work well. Highly recommend the protectant as it adds some grip to the mat.

I’ve seen high pressure water at car wash actually damage them. Common sense keep the wand at least a foot away. As for cleaning use a degreaser, simple green, purple power etc. some cleaners may produce a chalky dry appearance. If this happens use a non greasy interior dressing to restore the shine. A stiff bristle brush with degreaser will get it done. As usual black mats hard to keep clean.

Mud season in Colorado right now so I'm happy to not have big chunks of mud and rock on my mats... but sometimes it is nice to make them shiny and new looking again!

Yes, salt season is drawing to a close. Now, we are beginning the wet season, rain & mud.

Probably won't clean my floor mats until May.

All purpose cleaner or Super Clean, first, scrub, and then rinse. I do this to all my all weather floor matts and they look new. I do it about once a month to keep up on them.

A stiff brush, and any decent degreaser. You have to really go ham on them to get the dirt out.

is that not evaporation leaving residue on your mats? car washed and residential water supplies, unless filtered, are probably garbage for minerals, etc. noticed your cleaning steps but didn't see anything about drying them. i just got some of the ryobi brush attachments with a 1/4" attachment for my dewalt impact driver. really hoping i can get into the carpets, seats, and floormats now.
