there's a thin layer of fluid film on my garage floor now after going through 4-5 cans on my frame. Most of it under my truck which obviously makes working under my truck a greasy mess.

Anyone have any tips on how to remove? I was thinking about just using degreaser and water and sweeping it out. Not sure how effective that'll be.

Is it oil? get a can of eng gunk spray/degreaser apply to the affected area and cover with a thin layer of cheap kitty litter over night, brush up the kitty litter in the morning.

HOT water. Fluid film will liquify when hot. Carefully pour boiling water and scrub with a brush. Gunk degreaser will work too but you'll have to scrub. Put down a cheap Harbor Freight tarp before putting that crap on.

    Edit: from the FF site:

    Removing Fluid Film
For easy removal of Fluid Film for the purpose of handling or inspection, a high pressure, cold-water pressure wash (1,000 – 3,000psi) is recommended. A standard, industrial strength pressure washer will suffice.

Fluid Film can also be removed by warm water detergent wash or with a commercial-grade biodegradable cleaner. When choosing a cleaner, one formulated to remove tough grease and grime deposits is advised.

Fluid Film can also be rubbed in like a wax if total removal of the product is not necessary, since Fluid Film is safe for use on most paints and plastics. This will also offer extended protection of materials.

For equipment that is to be painted following a treatment of Fluid Film, a more vigorous cleaning is advised. A high-pressure, hot water or steam detergent wash (minimum 120F) is needed. Utilizing cleaning compounds specifically formulated to remove grease/wax as a pre-treatment process for painting are highly recommended.

There are several methods of degreasing concrete. The cheapest would be to get a 5 gallon bucket of dawn and hot water and using a scrub brush, You could shoot over to Lowes and pick up a gallon of commercial degreaser, dilute in hot water and scrub away. The hard to get areas that remain I would use electra-clean or some type of paint thinner and a rag. That stuff will take off just about anything!

Hot water and soap. Mop it a few times. I’ve had to do this several times. Just don’t use your wife’s mop, if you have one, I do and she wasn’t happy. I only made that mistake once.

a few days ago i was FF'n the bed bolts under there to make possibly easier task on removing them for upcoming procedure
some FF spots dripped onto the garage floor and i wipe them up immediately, i woulda spray outside but a hail storm was brewing (never showed up my area or town TG!) and had to get queen back into the garage lol

i will check on the spots to see if its still 'oily' and use a warmish dawn mix to spot clean if necessary
    thanks,j

I vote for dawn dish soap and hot water. Or just speedy dry ground in with your foot then swept up. I agree FF makes for messy repair work, but the ease of taking unrusted stuff apart - out weights the mess.

They make bags of these granules that soak up oil. I'd spread that around, let it sit, then sweep it up, then use hot water and dawn if there's any remaining.

I use the brake cleaner and immediately wipe with a rag on anything oily on concrete. Fast and easy, just hang up the rag and it’ll dry off. Way easier than soap and water or other materials.
