I have this bird shit stain on the hood of my car that is hard to take a picture of but you can see it under certain light. Might get some better pics tomorrow.

So this bird took a massive shit on my car when I was in Santa Cruz a while ago, had the sun roof open and eveyhing. Luckily the birds timing was off and he missed the sun roof and hit the hood of my truck and the back passenger roof. I didn't wash it off since I was going camping so it was on there for a few weeks. When I washed it I noticed the crap came off but the stain remained. Would a clay bar peel the rest of that crap off?

I believe bird poop to be highly acidic. Most likely ate the clear coat. I don't know what to do in that case.

Probably not. I don't know what those birds eat but their crap is toxic, literally, to paint. If you don't wipe it off right away it does eat through the clearcoat. I have taken an orbital buffer to it with no success. Don't mean to give you bad news and maybe yours will different but I doubt it if you left it there for weeks.

Thatll be damage to the clear itself, not surface contaminant. Clay bar wont help. Will need to attempt to cut and polish that.. if theres any clear left.

When you rub your hand across it, can you feel it? Does it feel different from the rest of the area?

Keep a bottle of Meguiars quick detail and a microfiber in the truck somewhere. Spray on and wipe off. Bird shit needs to come off pronto.

You may try a orbital buffer on it. If you're not sure about using one then take it to a professional detailer. You don't want to make it worse by leaving burn marks by over buffering it.

Make sure it's a orbital buffer for auto detailing and not the ones from Home Depot.....lol.

Or try a cleaner wax first and rub by hand. Novices like myself don't go anywhere near mechanized buffers and cutting polishes!

A small bit of rubbing compound should do the trick followed by a nice coat of wax

You guys are awesome! Thanks for the help. I will give your recommendations a try. I might test with some wax first, if that doesn't work, then polish and buffer.

OP, I had this exact thing happen to me on my truck in the first two weeks I had it. The poop stained in less than 10 minutes directly on my hood. I used meguiars ultimate compound and a microfiber pad, by hand, and it came out after 30 minutes of tough elbow grease. It all came out, waxed it extra good, now it can't even be seen.

Oh hell yeah. It took 30 minutes to buff out, though? Good to know, I would have given up after 5, haha.

Yeah, my arm nearly cramped up, lol, but worth it. Start rubbing lightly, then more forcefully in a circular pattern. You should see slow results, then it will finally disappear.

The idea will be fast circular motion confined to the affected area. The longer you do it with a fine/superfine compound the less swirl marks there will be. It takes longer by hand but its easier to over do it with a buffer.
