So it's been just over 2 years since I picked up my 2016 TRD OR. I'm still very happy with my choice... But have been waiting patiently for old school 4x4 mud flaps for the 3rd gens.

Did anyone ever start making them?

I'm not sure what you mean... do you just want mudflaps with "4x4" on them?

I've seen them.. but I believe they were made with vinyl stickers.

Yeah. The old school (1st and 2nd gen) flaps had “4x4” on them in large white letters. The ones available for the 3rd gens are all plain. It might seem like a small thing... but I grew up in a “Back to the Future” Tacoma world where the 4x4 was proudly displayed on those mud flaps.

Looks like everyone else is seeing what I have found... white stickers and “universal fit” cheapos.

Good post - I would like to get some real flexible rubber mud flaps too- the hard plastic “flaps” on my OR will get bunged up and may damage something if I drive over a boulder or shelf and drop down on them- they were a bad idea to put on a 4x4.

The ones in the Amazon link above look good for $20, anyone know if these are good fitting ones, or find others that are? I really don’t care about having a 4x4 embelem on them, will probably black them out, and I don’t want to pay for OEM ones.

Plasticolor ones are rubber material, much cheaper option than rockblocks

1st gens have '4WD' in white lettering and the 2nd gens have '4x4'...I like the 4WD personally as it's more that old school Toyota look, would be cool to see on a 3rd gen

The ones seen on my 2005 avatar pic are the originals with 4WD lettering. They are very close to the Amazon ones in the previous post.
