I haven't had a working cigarette lighter in a vehicle since before I had a smartphone. Tonight, we plugged in an adapter and started charging my son's phone on a 2hr trip.

When we pulled into the driveway and he pulled out the charger, it was HOT and smelled like it was cooking.

This was a $5 chinese adapter from the grocery store.

What adapters are you guys using that won't set my truck on fire?

I have one of these I bought years ago and recently got a free second one I put in my girlfriends car. Never had any problem with either, having 2 USB ports is nice, when installed its basically flush and its black so you barely notice its there, kindof almost maybe could pass as a OEM charging port if you didnt know better.

cheap power supplies are very quick to RUIN phones, and themselves. Spend decent money on an ANKER or RAVpower. They work great and charge fast. Plus wont kill your phone battery over time like the cheap chinese ones.
