So I bought some of these sweet SR5 black door handles to replace the chrome that I'm about to swap out. Anyone know if I have to take the entire door panels off to replace these or just the inside handle itself?

You need to take the doors off but it's very easy. Actually you don't need to take them all the way off, just most of the way so that you can get in behind the top of the door panel. I just did this mod myself last month.

Thanks, I’m thinking of new speakers and puddle lights while I have everything off. The interior only comes off so many times before shit starts rattling.

No prob! I've had mine off several times and I definitely have a few small rattles. The clips for the little triangle panel piece above the door broke and fell inside the door. You'd think it would be easy to extract them but it's a black hole apparently...

I’ve read that, I should probably buy several of those clips

Not a bad idea. You can get a bunch on Amazon for pretty cheap I think. If I remember right, the trick is to put the clips back on the panel piece when reinstalling. Do not leave those three clips in the door. Take them off and put them back on the triangle panel piece, then push the panel piece with the clips back into the door.

Any pictures OP? I'd like to see a write-up on this. I can't stand the chrome handles. Little grubby kid hands always leave them looking crappy.

Well I haven’t installed them yet, bought the pair (one shown in 1st post) a few months ago on eBay (shipped from Singapore) they did arrive fairly quick.

I’m like a turtle when in comes to mods and installs. But others have put these in, you have to take the door panel off.

I did the door handles several months ago excellent mod for the money...this video turn me into a pro at removing the door panels without breaking anything. Super easy when you know where to pull, push and grab. Also plastic trim removal tools are a must $5 bucks on Amazon.

What material is the door handle? Just curious as to how they feel.

These are also the door handles found on the SR trim if you can't find an Ebay listing, you may get one from a junkyard or a parts dealer

I have the meso chrome delete kit sitting in front of me, and a/c vent rings from tvd vinyl on the way. Handles are next on my list and then I just have to find out how to deal with the stupid steering wheel emblem
