Hi, so I just bought a 3rd gen, after owning a second gen for a long time, but it was totaled (more on that later). Anyway, I love the new truck and actually love the chrome on it. But the previous owner kinda scratched up the interior chrome. Here's a pic of the steering wheel emblem.

the red circle shows the chrome is completely scratched off

I wanna replace it, but my question is, can I just replace it with an OEM one without buying the whole steering assembly? I've looked for the part number but couldn't seem to find it. And has anyone done this?

also, I wanna keep it chrome, and not resort to an overlay of any other color. Thanks!

Yeah tell me about it lol. It wasn't a deal breaker at the time of buying since I had intentions to put overlays, but my taste has changed

May be scratched up because the previous owner had one of those cute “chrome delete” stickers on it. Then decided they couldn’t part with it and scratched the adhesive left on it off with something metal.

enough chrome to match with the interior. Maybe I’ll just wear these so everything blends and makes sense

After further research I clarified the part number with Toyota and it’s for the entire front cover.

Also to remove the emblem alone I would have to remove the whole front panel of the steering wheel. The emblem is glued on the from the inside and can’t be pryed off the front without breaking the emblem.

so conclusion: gotta go with an overlay or mask/sand/paint with chrome …if I don’t wanna take it all apart
