We're back with another All-Terrain tire launch, this one from Cooper Tires!

Available in 4-ply rating (SL & XL), the Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT refreshes the popular Discoverer AT3 4S with incremental improvements where it mattered most. Featuring a next-generation tread pattern, the Discoverer Road+Trail AT utilizes a more rugged sidewall design over its predecessor which transitions nicely from the shoulder lugs. In addition the new aesthetics, drivers can expect superior wet performance and improved steering feel, with the same on-road comfort found with the previous version. If you find yourself mainly driving on-road with camping adventures sprinkled in throughout the year, the Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT is worth a look!

They're looking more and more like Goodyear parent company tires. Its a bummer the AT3's are going away it sounds like, I really like them on my tacoma.

I really, really like my Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S tires. (I've been running the OEM size 265/65R17.)

I was most impressed with their snow performance; I rolled the dice a few times on mountain roads in blizzards, without chains, and had no issues whatsoever. They've also held up well to hasty highway speeds, rocky desert trails, and otherwise daily driving in many 110+ degree days in Las Vegas - just some very minimal chunking.

I planned to keep getting them indefinitely, so I'm disappointed that they're being discontinued.

I'm on the fence about the Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT tires...

I like the 65,000 treadwear warranty and the fact that they're 12 lbs lighter than the KO3s.

I don't doubt their presumably similar snow performance and longevity, but I can't get past that silly looking sidewall tread.

One thing I liked me about the AT3s was the different look. These new ones look like everything else. Also they aren’t offered in 33s. Disappointing.

If you liked the AT3's, you may be surprised with the performance and overall ride quality with the new Road + Trail.

The AT3 4S was a great tire. Cooper has kept some of the strong features of that tire and improved in other areas. Don't hesitate to take advantage of our 30 day ride guarantee. If you decide to purchase the all new Road + Trail and are not completely satisfied, bring them back and we will make it right.

Rest assured that if the popularity of the Road+Trail grows, they may offer more sizes.

They look nice in person. I owned AT34S and wasnt terribly happy with them long term, we'll see how these do.

I'm just glad there's so many 4 season tires to chose from now.

Got my new Road + Trails on (265/70/R16) and did my first 300 miles and a night of off roading. They live up to the hype- smooth ride for sure and great grip in the mud/snow up in the WV mountains. I feel like its a much softer ride then the Wrangler originals.

Doesn’t appear that they have full depth siping. How does that affect longer term inclement weather handling?

Tread sipes allow a tires tread the biting edges needed for traction in wet and snow. Without much test data currently, we can not say for sure that the traction would be affected negatively as the tire wears. Time will tell. We would like any forum members to chime in if they have many miles on a set.

I'm putting some on my 17' Sport tomorrow. I've been running the AT3 4S (265/70 R17) for some time - did a review of them on here and they are good tires. First set went about 55K before I hit something in the road that destroyed one of the tires. Discount replaced 1 with the certificate and prorated the rest - so I put another set on. The most recent set only got to 31K before there was some weird tread problems on 2 of the tires and they wouldn't balance well (Constant 'wobble'). Going to give these a go. I like that they are 41 lbs on the 265/70 R17 vs 44 lbs on the AT3 4S. 3lbs each isn't going to change the world, but every little bit of reduced 'rotating weight' on these trucks helps.

Guess I’ll give them a go! I was super skeptical at first based on pictures but they are certainly deeper/more aggressive in person.

So tonight I tried out the “trail” with the new coopers. Here in Michigan my trails are a good mixture of sand and clay. This evening specifically it had been raining pretty hard.
I did an easy trail (logging/hunting road) which was essentially all surface level mud. Happy to say the truck was never put in 4wd and had good traction. Only the top 1-2” was muddy at most. Hard pack under that.

Been watching the road and trail coopers for awhile now. Looking to get a white wall set for my white taco. Will be replacing my wild peaks. The coopers are more of a on-road AT. The wild peaks are more of an off-road AT. 95% of my mileage is on road. Looking forward to a smoother, better handling ride.

I have the AT3's. Last last gen and last gen. Hardest tires to balance. Bought both sets @Discount Tire . Love the way they look though. Wheels also purchased at DT.

Hey, I just found this thread but I'm interested in either a Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT or a Mickey Thompson Baja Boss both in 265/75/16.

Any updates from those who put these on? I am in the process of replacing the Wranglers that were from the factory which are shot in 27K mi.

These are at the top of the list. Thanks!
