That reads like 1 sentence taken out of a 10 page report. Much like a facebook video that shows the last 10 seconds of a 10 minute encounter to make the bad person look good.

Much as you can't actually see the trailer. While it may be #2100, there's no way to see that it's not loaded with an extra #10k.

    *************edit**************************

Allow me to enter an edit here. From the picture you can see it's a 'ruger' trailer. The only small model of which weighs completely dry (drumroll here) 2900 pounds. And that's if the GVWR they advertise was actually correct, since so many times they show quite a bit lighter than they actually are. Couple that with the additional hardware you can see bolted onto the trailer itself, go cruising down some roads with some dips and whoops at an excessive speed and physics has its way with you.
Sooooooo, I'm calling BS on the rest of the complaint as well. I'd assume the picture is cropped specifically so you can't see the load, and assume he was substantially overloaded and blaming Chevy for his own actions.

That's 30 seconds work sitting in front of the tv, imagine what I could find if I was actually on site investigating.

Yep, called it  3500lb axle bent like a rainbow, that definitely says 1" taller tire caused the problem. Back when I was a cop people often asked why we treated everyone like they were lying to us. It's because everyone always lies to us. Fb makes it so everyone can always lie to everyone. Only everyone treats everything on Fb like its true.

Not disagreeing with any of the above but it does look like a weak spot in the frame though. It kinked right where the oval hole is. I'd keep an open mind and see if the problem is repeated.

The actual report from GM reads:

It is believed that the Colarado hit the trail bump in excess of approxiamtely 50 MPH which caused a large (casotraphic) negative moment about the last 1/3 of the frame, and because of the load fixed at the tongue, the 4x.1/3 framing failed.

When asked why the customer reached these speeds, with a 2500lb trailer in tow on the trail, he responded,
    "Because Multimatic BRO!"
    Warranty claim denied.

    End report.

Theres about a million of them on the road, I think if 100lb overload was a problem we would have heard about it by now. If I hit a tree at 100mph and suffer damage, it's probably not due to a weak spot in the frame.

Apparently that frame is seriously under designed by the looks if it. Based on the first pick anyways
    Screenshot_20190623-114650_Chrome.jpg
100 bux says some kind of stiffening plate magically finds it's way to the frame in that spot in 2020-21.
Notice the bend is exactly at the point where the shocks are fixed.

Working as designed isn't under designed. That's pretty much the reason everything had a rating. Exceed it and your up a creek.

What I think your talking about is safety factors because we cant think of every for seable circumstance so provide ratings to save our butts. And IMO this frame was designed to the nuts. Cheap as possible material design and min gauge steel or lack or high strength steel in critical points.
Of course user error could be to blame but "durability" has alot to do with over designing- vs "working as designed". Next time you go in an elevator with 11 people and the tag calls for 10 people you can rest assured it won't fail because of this :p

The number that go offroad is quite a bit smaller, offroad with a trailer, smaller still, stupid fast to boot even smaller. Speed was definitely a factor but the frame bent there not somewhere else so that was either the weak point or the focal point for the stress. It's not as if auto makers have a perfect track record. And if there's a weakness anywhere, the over enthusiast will find it. Not saying it's defective, people break stuff by exceeding limits, apparently this is how you break this Chevy.

I had my brand new f250 out last weekend, packed it with explosives, drove it off the edge of the grand Canyon at 120mph. $80k and now it won't even start. And ford is denying my warranty claim because I didn't wax it like I was supposed to. What a POS, thanks for nothing ford.

Apparently it's a thing with Raptor frames as well, and not due to trailer towing, just stuff Ford shows in comercials.
