Took my 4 year old trick or treating. Got home and the wife checked the candy (she always does and i always thought she was being paranoid) she found a mini butter finger bar, the wrapper appeared cut then glued back closed. We opened up the candy and on one side there is an unknown blue substance on it.
My daughter got cold and was already tired so we only went to one street with about 20 houses on it, so we are gonna contact the local police in case this turns about to be something serious, they will be able to narrow their suspect search to 20 houses. We threw out all of her candy and bought her some from the store. Describing me as angry right now is only the tip of the iceberg

could the blue be the glue that is supposed to be holding the wrapper together?

I agree but at the same time it probably took 5min to check all the candy so why not? It may have been harmless or it could have made her very sick or worse.

Glad you caught that and your daughter is okay!

Ok. This may be the most dumbest thing I've ever heard. ALWAYS check the candy! My parents even back in the day checked it.

I don't live in fear, but a quick check of my kids candy is not living in fear. It's just protecting my kids. Even if its just from something dirty or god knows what. Why take a chance.

The world we live in is sadly fucked up. There are crazy people out there. I'm not talking terrorist or ebola crazy fears. Just your plain old, always have been around and always will be around, crazy people. It's a fact.

Come on, when was the last time you really heard of contaminated Halloween candy (other than the candy man in Texas) that resulted in an arrest & convection? I'll bet the OP's case is just a manufacture's defect.

Hopefully so, but there are too many psychos in this world to take a chance on hoping it's just a manufacturer's defect.

I'd like to see a pic of the OP's questionable candy.

You must not make your kids fasten their seatbelts either then? There are millions of cars driving around all the time, only a minute fraction are involved in accidents. You won't be one of them, your kids are safe without seatbelts. Odds are you're right...so why bother? Right?

I can't F'n believe some of you parents aren't checking your kids candy.
    I don't even have kids.

    For God Sake...

Your kids aren't old enough to understand the 'history' behind all the madness in this world. It's your job to protect them.

Anything suspicious - don't take any chances. Whether its from someone tampering with the candy or a malfunction at the factory.....its ONE piece of candy you can toss in the trash and feel safer.

Would you eat a piece of candy that looked suspicious?? I doubt it....so don't let your kids eat it!!

Surely....we survived as kids. Some of our own generation grew up on the disturbed side of the fence and want to hurt people. Protect your kids!!

Truth. But why take the chance? I'm not going to let my kid be the ONE kid who got something from tainted candy, just cause my "I don't live in fear" attitude.
