2018 Tacoma with 46,000 miles. On the way to work yesterday the check engine light came on while idling at a stop light. I used a code reader today and received a Toyota specif code of P11EC.

Only found one thread that mentioned this code, but no resolution. Any idea on what I am looking at?

I'll bring it in to Toyota, but don't want a run around from them.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Fuel cap. Maybe. Just a wild guess.

I had filled up just before this and it was only a few mile later that the check engine light came on. I suspected the gas cap although I had never had that happen before. I removed and replaced when I arrived at the office, but the light stayed on the whole way home, 40 miles.

If it is/was your gas cap, it may take longer (more miles)to clear. That or disconnect battery.

Just looked that up and didn't realize it could take 100 miles for the code to clear. It is a different code for the gas cap though.

Id be really easy on it driving around. In case an injector went bad or something. Could be running lean on 1 cylinder, that would be bad.

If the check engine light is flashing, do not drive at all. Flashing means something is really off, and could be causing engine damage.

Flashing CEL usually means missfire. Not good. OP, I say you open 'er up and really grenade the motor so Toyota gives u a brand new one.

CEL is not flashing and engine appears to be running fine. Normal operation on the 40 mile commute which is mostly highway and everyone drives 70-75 mph...

It takes a few days for CEL to go away if it was gas cap on toyotas. Try filling it up again.

I just cleared the CEL with the scanner and went for a 20 mile drive. No CEL yet.

It's never the gas cap in my experience with Toyota's lol.
It's always been >$500 to fix.

Looks like you have 3 codes stored, what are the other 2? Also, what ODBII tool are you using, if just some "generic" autoparts store one, you might be better off with the computer / USB or mobile device / bluetooth style ones, as you may get a better set of codes. That is such a high level generic ODBII code, that I find it hard to believe there is not something more specific sorted.

It is an AutoLink AL319. Not expensive, but good reviews. It did indicate that this was a manufacturer spefic code and picked toyota, but it didn't have any more specific information than shown. The 1/3 was confusing. It was the same code on all 3 pages.

My engine is in pieces at the dealer because of this code. P11EC, My Cylinder #1 has a burned exhaust valve. 2017 SR5 4x4 with 73k miles. I have posted about this on FB but it seems not too many people are having this come up yet.
